What picks/stings are everybody using?

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

Picks: Alice Stainless Steel 0.3mm and ChromaCast heavy when I don't want to use the SS picks.
Strings: Elixir nanoweb 10-46's

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

Ultex sharp .73, Ernie ball strings, size depends on the guitar. I bought a starter pack of v-picks, and I can see why people like them, but it seems like I still wind up using the ultex sharps much more.

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

been using dr pure blues for a long time. 11-50 these days. used to get custom made 11, 15, 19, 28, 38, 54 sets but that became a pita once my buddy stopped working at the store. for picks it usually tortex .73 or .88 or ultex .73, .90 sharp, or 1mm. i play with my fingers a lot though

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

I have custom printed picks from InTuneGP. They're basically a Derlin Tortex-like material in a Jumbo Jazz III shape, .80 mm thick. I love them, and I have enough to last me a year or two more.

For strings I use D'Addario NYXLs 10-52. They're the best for tuning stability, and longevity I've found, and I've yet to break any.

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

Ultex Jazz III and custom gauge 9.5-45 D'Addario NYXLs along with 10-46 NYXL depending on tuning and scale length.

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

Favorites are La Bella HRS-73 minus the 10 for B/drop A or for E/drop D minus the 64. I have to mail order them though, so I mostly just use those for B.

I've gone back to using D'Addario XL 10-52 for E/drop D, 11-56 for D/drop C, and 12-60 for C/drop A#. Most consistent tension between tunings, and I never have a dead string out of the box, which I can't say for any other brand except La Bella. The new packaging suuuuxxx though.

Picks are always and forever Dunlop black nylon (1mm?) max grips. Before they made the max grips I used the regular black nylons, ever since I started playing guitar (1990 or so). Jazz III just feel so weird, tortex are way too stiff, celluloids are too slick, metal is too both and sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard. The nylons just feel and sound right and I almost never lose them and they don't wear down very quickly.

Jazz III's took me a bit to get used to them.

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

Picks: Green Tortex .88

Strings: D'Addario or Ernie Ball. Usually 9-46 on Gibson scale and 9-42 on Fender scale.

Recently I've been experimenting with D'Addario 9.5-44 (liking them on a Gibson!) and I've got a balanced tension 9-40 set on my Strat (jury still out).

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

InTuneGP picks .88 (custom) or Dunlop .88 tortex & (mostly) Ernie Ball lime green slinkys (10-46) for the electrics. On the occasion I use D'Addario, but I honestly prefer slinkys... Acoustics are Dunlop GatorGrips .58 and Elixir Polyweb (12-53)

I use D'Addario 10-52s and some planet waves medium picks. I like my picks like I like my women: thin and flat.

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

Picks: Clayton Material: Acetal Gauge: 1.90mm

Strings: D'Addario XL Material: Nickel-plated Steel Gauge: 10-46

I like thick picks and D'Addario strings feel and sound perfect on the majority of guitars I own.

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

I'm easy. I try different things now and then but always seem to gravitate back to:
Fender 351 medium
Ernie Ball regular slinky 10-46

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

Acoustic - Martin Lifespan phosphor bronze 12g strings, Dunlop Tortex T3 .60mm picks.

Electrics - D'Addario XL nickel wound 10g or 11g strings, Dunlop Tortex T3 .60mm or Dunlop Ultex sharp .90mm picks.

I'm not that particular tho, I can make do with whatever is available.

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

I'm very vanilla... fender mediums or medium nylon picks if i want a softer attack. As far as strings go I usually go with DR .11-.52's.

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

Normally D'addario 10-52 for higher tunings and D'addario 12-60 for lower.. though the last time I went to buy strings they didnt have any D'addarios that were bigger than 10-46 so I bought Ernie Balls in 11-54 and 12 -56 and they do just fine. Not really that picky about it as long as the gauge is good.

For picks I use anything dunlop thats the jazzIII sized and thick enough that it doesnt flex... so .88 and 1.14 tortexs... jazz III's... nylon jazz's all good.

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

I use custom picks and Boomers

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

Seems so weird to me that no one else likes some give in their picks. I guess I really am a weirdo.

Re: What picks/stings are everybody using?

For electric, pick = Dunlop Jazz Stubby 3.0mm / strings = D'Addario NYXL 10-46
for electric, pick = real tortoise / strings = D'Addario EXP PB or 80/20 12-53

Though, the truth is, I play without a pick more often than not
