I don't blame you!
Just get a Duncan Antiquity for the best vintage Tele tone ever...especially if you have to have the chrome cover.
Or a Fralin Blues Special for a tone that's more Strat like...if you can live without the cover.
Those are my two faves.

I'm gonna post up some clips sometime. People keep asking me. I've never used the QP, so I can't direct compare, but I didn't like the sound sample for it. The muy grande for tele is like a vintage pickup with more beef so to speak. It absolutely rips for solos and chording, nice and clear, never muddy ever. It's definately darker sounding than traditional tele pickups but you can still get a nice ice pick out of it. Under gain it can crunch like a humbucker and still retain that single coil sound and clarity, and clean it's nice and twangy like it should be. It has a singing quality to it too (think JB). I really like it. I think it's the best pickup to hot rod a tele without putting in rails or lil' humbuckers and losing that single coil tone.

Thanks Xeromus. I basically like the tone the Quarter's have but the thing I don't like about both the neck and bridge pickups is how there's no "muscle" on the higher end. I've tried adjusting the pickups every which way but the end result seems to be the same. I've even played it thru differant amps with the same results.

If you're going for country-pop, pop, and things that aren't too heavily driven, then get the Antiquity. Heavier stuff would probably need a Quarter Pounder.

Randy's right. I had a QP, which is covered, for a while and it is a fantastic pickup for rock/blues, though not really a metal pickup-never had a problem with squeal either. It's a real scorcher, and to me, I never thought it lacked any muscle (vs. other single coils). It did twang hard, but didn't exactly clean up like the lower output pickups do. To clear it up, I had to lower the QP quite a bit and that proved to be a great position. Close to the strings will get you too much mud.
I have an uncovered pickup in the neck and it's much smoother, has a more open and airy flair to it that gets great tone, smooth drive and clear with cleans. Definitely better for the alt-country/low grind blues/rock.
