What pickup to replace a Full Shred?

Hi there, I bought a Charvel DK24 HSH with Full Shred in bridge position and Alnico II Pro in neck position. I find the Full Shred too thin and "hollow" sounding. I would like a pickup that can pack a bigger punch while playing rhythms with a bigger and fuller sound, and at the same time can mantain the ability to cut the mix and producing singing/screaming leads.

Several people suggested a Dimarzio Tone Zone or a Suhr SSH+, but I like to have Seymour Duncan alternatives too. I mostly play punk/hard rock/metal with that guitar.

Thanks a lot!

How much gain do you want from the bridge? The Slash pickup is a slightly gained up version of the A2P bridge, and I bet it would be a great tonal match for your A2P neck. It's not going to be as high output as something like a Tone Zone though.

I think the Custom would be the ticket for what you described there. (A punchier meatier sound than full shred but still has some top bite)

Since you've got an A2Pro neck though you may want to look into the Custom Custom, could be a better match for your neck pickup. It's still punchy and can do all those genres, I don't think it bites as hard for leads though

If you like the Alnico II Pro neck, the trembucker bridge Alnico II Pro might be the best match. The slash version is a slightly hotter wind of the same pickup if you want a little more output.

This...it doesn't have the giant scoop in the mids that the Full Shred has.

I've got a SSH Charvel 24 Dinky and couldn't find any way to may the Full Shred work for me, so I visited a local music store. The store owner had three candidates in stock when I asked about a Full Shred Replacement pickup - The Sh5 Custom, the JB. So. I chose the SH5 Custom. Compared to the Full Shred, this pickup sound more balanced and full. While it is hotter than the single coils ..... it combines nicely in the 2 and 4 switch positions.

The SH5 is going to stay in the Charvel for awhile. If, sometime in the future, it has to go, I'm thinking of trying a Screaming Demon.

The cool thing about the Custom is that you can replace the magnet and really transform the EQ of the pickup if you want to experiment. The Custom should have much tighter and present bass than the Full Shred.

The Full Shred is the Custom. Just swap the hexs for filisters and add whatever magnet. No need to buy another pickup.

What woods are in you DK24 HSH? Mine has a mahogany body, the stock FS really matches the guitar perfectly, but YMMV.

Dimarzio Super Distortion/PAF Pro seems to be a popular set for alder body/bolt on maple neck guitars. In fact, it's the stock set in the USA made Charvel Teles. Adrian Smith is still a Super Distortion user, and Kurt Cobain had one installed in his Jaguar. it's not as dark sounding as a Tone Zone. As always, try to play one guitar with said pickups before buying.
