What pickup would this be?

A '59 with less bass, more mids, same output, and less glassy highs. What neck pickup would this be closest to?

That pickup would be....the same one I'm looking for. I would say the A2P, but that is obviously not an A5 like the 59, nonetheless fits your tonal description, IMO.

I once tried to place an A5 in my a2p and it didn't work at all.. bad experiment! lol

I am thinking about doing that. What trouble did you have? Was it anything like you expected?

Seth Lover or PG - definitely an a2 magnet. I am not real familiar with the a2pro neck pickup but that's probably an option also.

I would suggest a Seth Lover neck.

Would that match output-wise with the C-5 I have in the bridge? I've actually always liked the Seth Lover soundclips the best for the neck pickups, but was afraid it was too vintage in output. Does it also squeal horribly under high-gain since it isn't potted?

Sure It will... The Seth lover has slightly less output than a 59 neck, and about the same of a alnico pro or a PG. I've read many good things about the Seth's under high gain an nobody complained about squealing. People say it has useable feedback . An Alnico II pup it is definitely your choice...

Wouldn't that make it a jazz?
Nope, thats is you put an A5 magnet in an alnico II pro, then its a jazz
