I just got the Jag Stang back from the shop. It now has a pearly gates in the bridge.
"bright" is not the part of the equation that we are going to have any problem with. The FULL AND WARM, WELL THAT IS ANOTHER STORY.
NATMAN, I'm afraid your right about these guitars.
This guitar sounds ok through my friends silver face twin, but is absolutely shrill and thin through my super reverb.
This lead me to question the tubes I have as Super's are saught after by blues players for there mellow, smokey, but bright and shimering not harsh qualities. But then it all depends on the tubes.
Just as I thought I had opened another can of worms and before going off of the deep end I decided to test my amp with a basic American Standard Strat (3 SC's).
Problem solved! I love my amp. It sounds great. The SG sounds amazing through it.
But nothing has sounded as good to me as just a plain vanilla tried and true strat.
SO what to do about the JAG STANG....

I THINK I MAY BE ON TO A NEW PURSUIT WITH IT. BUT I CAN'T DO THE WIRING MYSELF AND THE LABOR IS NOT CHEAP.
At this point i'm thinking the darker the HB the better. Something to give the guitar some richness.
It has a TENDANCY TO be quite SHRILL AND THIN.
I might sell the dam thing. It looks cooler than it sounds.
But then again it is my firt ever ax and has some sentimental value to me.
EVEN THE PG DOESN'T SOUND GOOD, IT'S THIN, SHRILL, CHORDS SOUND LIKE HELL. A LIITLE BIT BETTER WITH THE TWIN FOR WHATEVER REASON
I SHOULD CHANGE THE TITLE OF THIS POST TO SIMPLY, "HOW TO GET A DECENT TONE OUT OF A JAG-STANG" LOL
ANY IDEAS NATMAN?
