It all started when i discovered Yngwie in a Guitar World about three years ago and I've been on a shred craze ever since. Last week I got a $50 gift card(graduation present) to Tower Records and bought Mind's Eye and Edge of insanity. I trying to figure out why people hate Shrapnel artists:eek13: .

Time Odyssey was a much more "mature" album. I like both, though.
I couldn't believe when I read an interview with Tommy Aldridge in which he commented on the Mind's Eye recordings. He was not very complimentary.
But I'll bet he cashed the check:smack:
I lost alot of respect for him at that point. Bashing fellow musicians is low-class IMHO. Honest criticism is one thing. But his comments were less than complimentary and certainly not constructive.

Malmsteen's Rising Force, Mind's Eye, and Edge of Sanity....That's an intense evening of Gueetar! Good to see the youth of today getting into the classics! However you guys got into that - you have great taste. You're definitley hitting some of the best of the genre.

I am 32 and still love it. Its music that move people with beauty of composition and technical wizadry not by "coolness," "honesty" and "radicalism." BTW guess what amp was used for the album ??? Laney Pro-Tube AOR. He-he, yours truly a proud owner of one.

I think...but am not totally positive he used a PAF Pro in the neck on minds eye...but it may have been a pair of SuperDs...

FYI..Minds Eye was a Marshall..he had the Laney endorsement by the time it was released but he did not record with them until TO.

You shouldn't be offended at all. I am actually impressed by your choices.
I agree with Aceman. I just found those two albums in Vinyl inside a few boxes around the house. Didn't even remember I had those. They are good albums.

The guitar used on "Mind's Eye" was an Ibanez. Heartfields didn't come out until around '90 or so.
Dimarzio Super Distortions were the pickups.
Vinnie used a 10-series Ibanez Super Metal pedal for overdrive on the "Mind's Eye" album. It was auctioned off on vinniemoore.com a few years ago.
The Super Metal is more of an overdrive than a full-on distortion and the five controls give a fine degree of variance over the tone. I have one, and IMHO, it's a pedal worth picking up if one would run across an example.
The amp used was a Marshall. IIRC, it was a loaner from Mike Varney.
The guitar used on "Mind's Eye" was an Ibanez. Heartfields didn't come out until around '90 or so.

First off, I love the fact that super shredders like Vinnie are getting some love on this forum! If you haven't caught him with UFO, do so now! The guy kills.
As for the pickups, I have it on good authority that it was a DiMarzio Double Whammy in the bridge and a Di Meola model in the neck. Stay tuned for more info/clarification.
