I'll hate it when the day comes I wanna change the pickups in my 339.
For me, it's DAMN HARD to get my head around how to improve it's tone.

I want a bit more of this, a bit less of that, but it's so hard to change pickups and just swap them around in a semi-hollow that I'm supposed to know first-hand that I'll like the swap.

Oh, trust me when I say that the tone of an Epi ES-339 Pro actually CAN be improved.



That's an old picture of mine, Diego.



Those are the Epi Alnico Classic Pro set, after I replaced the slugs, keeper bars, screws and magnet, plus I converted'em to two-con using vintage braided wire. The difference in tone is like comparing the picture quality of a 4K TV against a simple 1280x760 HQ TV.



I'va also changed the harness, making it a Master Volume, Master Tone config, '50s style wiring, as all my other two-HBs guitars.

Hey Kojak. Not saying it can't be improved. Just saying I can't picture in my head what would be a smart next step.
One day I wish it was fatter in the midrange. The next, I wish it had more chime and air.
I know you can't have it all with one guitar.

I know what pickups I'd drop in my Les Paul, my Jackson and my Ibanez if I had to change them today and improve their natural tone.
The 339? I have no clue.

I feel compelled to offer my Dot's setup as an example. But I figure around here you'll already know about P-Rails and Triple Shots.

But yeah. I recommend P-Rails and Triple Shots to make the most radically versatile semi-hollowbody, ever.

It worked for me.

I feel compelled to offer my Dot's setup as an example. But I figure around here you'll already know about P-Rails and Triple Shots.

But yeah. I recommend P-Rails and Triple Shots to make the most radically versatile semi-hollowbody, ever.

It worked for me.

Also a great idea. Some others on here have done this as well, and said it worked really well.
