Re: What Pickups used on CARCASS-HEARTWORK?

Judging by the fact that Michael Ammott now uses a JB/59 combo, I'd say the same thing.

Re: What Pickups used on CARCASS-HEARTWORK?

Super Ds or Super 3s, I get Carcass' pickups and Obituary's pickups confused. Now that I think about it, it's the Super Distortion.

Re: What Pickups used on CARCASS-HEARTWORK?

Man from my ears it sounds like 5150 for sure, but I think they were using some EMG's on that. It may not look like it vid's but listen to it really well it's got that active "chang" to it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what my ears tell me.

Re: What Pickups used on CARCASS-HEARTWORK?

And by the by, Mike Ammott has only been using duncans for the last two Arch-Enemy albums, if you watch vids from and listen to Burning Bridges, the last album with Johann Liva singing, he uses a ZW set of EMG's.

Re: What Pickups used on CARCASS-HEARTWORK?

WITH FULL DISTORTION!@*(&(! dude i been reading alot of your posts, (you are hard to understand sometimes cuz you have poor english but thats ok i know lots of people from finland/poland/russia etc with bad english too lol)

but anyways you really seem to be on a quest to find the perfect metal tone.

Ive also noticed you like vader, i love vader, vader rules!!!!! an EMG-81 in the bridge thru a peavy xxx or 5150 will definitley give you a great metal tone, comparable to vader or .... (although i think it would sound more like cannibal corpse)

but what surprises me is that you havnt yet tried the seymour duncan livewire metal pickup!!!!!???

My favorite band of all time Dark Funeral uses the seymour duncan LiveWire Metal pickup, so i thought id try it, so i bought one and put it in my mahogany body schecter guitar (in the bridge), AND IT F*CKING RULES dude....

i only have a marshall mg250dfx amp, thats a 50 watt stereo amp (2x50 watts), the speakers in it are not that great, although the amp sounds pretty good. But my point is, the SD LiveWire metal pickup makes this amp SOUND AMAZING!!!!!!!

i can get a vader tone out of it PERFECTLY!! AND THIS IS A CHEAPER AMP! (it actually cost more than its worth but thats marshal for you :P) i actually recorded my bands debut CD using my cheap marshall combo, no stack! hahaha, but i had this pickup it sounded great, although i had studio effects added on, noise gates etc so it doesnt sound pure (meaning the CD doesnt sound EXACTLY like the amp) but still....

YOU MUST TRY THIS PICKUP!!!!!!!! i also suggest trying the seymour duncan livewire classic pickup for the neck.. i got it to and its really good for cleans, sounds just like the '59 passive neck pickup tho... its pretty good (although i like the SD Jazz passive more).

the livewires take 2 batteries tho, two 9-volts. So if you think you can get that into your guitar (i have a schecter, I DID NOT DRILL OR CUT THE GUITAR ANYWHERE, but i had to stuff the batteries in the back, there wasnt much room)

then buy these pickups!!!!! the livewire classic was hard to find for me, but the livewire metal is common. If you cant find the classic then i suggest just not having a neck pickup until you do find one because the livewire metal is AMAZING.

but the livewire metal pickup is so strong its impossible to get a clean sound with it. if you play it thru clean on your amp, it still gives distortion! thats how good it is for metal haha :D

If you want, PRIVATE MESSAGE me and i can send you some mp3 recordings of me playing the following..(if you dont know how then just say, and ill pm you)

Iced Earth (heavy metal..real heavy)
Running Wild (thrash metal)
Dark Funeral (black metal)

small clips of songs by them, in 1 file, i can make it less than a megabyte i think, so small file. Just let me know man.

Thats because the livewire metal is almost too much for its own good, and thats why people go with EMG's or other duncans for metal. I mean really when you distort a clean channel then your pickup is just wayyyy too hot. When I saw dimmu borgir they used the livewires and it was so unbelievably compressed middy and gainy that it hurt my ears and the things sustained soo long that the notes just slured together.

Re: What Pickups used on CARCASS-HEARTWORK?

hahahaah ****ing Hails Gugnir!
Man, ok for my poor english. i assume that .
never did english classes.
well.. send me the pickup.
send me some Blackmetal riffs(can be dark funeral ones) some thrash? send some Slayer riffs, or Destruction, and for death metal... what do you know how to play?
if you can send some deicide riffs, morbid angel or Carcass that´s ok.

I´m waiting, send those samples to me , i can receive 10 mega in my email
send 1 by one . eheheheh don´t reduce the quality. 128 is ok. 1 minute samples are ok too. so, if you can encode them in 160, it will be alittle better.

No sir, my english could not be alot better. My english is as good as english gets. ok not really but my english is above that of your standard american....but incase you didnt notice im not SPEAKING ENGLISH IM TYPING IT, which gives me the excuse to say "cuz", and "*(!^@(" and "i been" and stuff... thats not even bad english really thats more like spelling issues ;/

bad english would be like saying "im hav been reading all of you are posts"

but anyways distortiondude ill record you a vader riff, a deicide riff, dark funeral riff and an awesome iced earth riff, im not gonna send slayer cuz i hate them :P (dead skin mask rules tho! they do have a few good songs haha)

dude the livewire metal is almost the same as the duncan distortion, the only real difference is that the high notes dont hurt your ears on the livewire like they do on the duncan distortion and almost all high output passives. i guess you could say thats cuz the livewire metal has more mids.

But the duncan distortion distorts the clean channel almost as much as the livewire metal does (i had duncan distortion bridge / jazz neck, right before i put in these livewires) and look how many people use that thing.

i love the sound this thing gives off, just check my sig for the pickups ive used for metal, this thing is by far the bestbut the emg-81, duncan distortion and the ka ultra, are all so similiar it was hard to put which one was better then eachother, but the emg-81 definitley came in second

You are incorrect.
Mike ammot used JBs, apparantly, but Bill Steer used stick Ibz DiMarzios that were in his S series guitars.

Re: What Pickups used on CARCASS-HEARTWORK?

Hej. dimarzio humbucker from hell Didn´t work well in the neck, WITH FULL DISTORTION
I had one
do you agree with it?

Re: What Pickups used on CARCASS-HEARTWORK?

i think it was pretty good for clean playing in the neck, although i liked the SD Jazz alot better, infact i like the Jazz more then i like the '59, i should fix my sig :P

by the way im sending the mp3s now, im on dial up tho haha so it takes time to upload them into the email

Re: What Pickups used on CARCASS-HEARTWORK?

I saw them live on the Heartwork tour twice and I was up front both times. They were both using stock Ibeenhad PUs and 5150 amps. They used Marshall JCM800 2203 100 watt heads boosted with a Marshall Guvnor pedal to record Heartwork. That's straight from Bill Steer's mouth (I got to talk to him after thew show).

Cheers,

CJ
