anyone know what the factory pot value is? I have a JB in there and I' dlike to try to tame it maybe with a 250k pot...was wondering what's in there now?

thanks

500k push/pull with a DPDT. There's a 500k resistor from the switch to ground on the upper lugs where the neck single connects (at least there used to be). Open it up and look. ;)

I had a feeling....

I think I'm gonna replace it with a 250k pot....I should just be able to replace the pot, right?

Nope, the DPDT is part of it. You'll need to get one with a DPDT switch on it just like what's in the guitar already. Since the pot will be 250k, there won't be a need for the 500k resistor to ground from the neck pickup (if it's even there).

Allparts List. You want part number EP_0285-000 or EP_0283-000. Don't know what the difference between the 2 is but the $9 one would be fine.

what's a DPDT?

I went on warmoth.com and they have a push pull 250k pot....I need something else than that?

Re: what pot in a ESP lynch skulls n snakes?

A DPDT is a double-poll-double-throw switch. It's attached to the pot in this case. They come in toggle and stomp switch format too. Take the control cavity cover off the guitar and you'll see what I mean or go to the Allparts link I posted and look at those two part numbers. The switch is where the pickup hot leads connect to. The switch then connects to the pot. You need the 250k pot with an attached DPDT.

If it´s more than a nickelbag I may have to try an ESP after all :laugh2:

Perfect. Now, the fun part will be the wiring. ;) It should be easy though considering you have one in the guitar now, just 500k. Just change over one wire at a time.

actually, since you mentioned the push push pots, I cancelled that order...lol

that was one of my complaints about the lynch...it's a pain in the ass to pull the knob up when going to neck pickup

I'm going to double check to maek sure it's a 500k pot in there now..

warmoth doesn't take online orders and they have a minimum order amount...so I'm not going with them.if I wanted to talk to a person, i would have called in the first place..LMFAO..

but seriously, I found a place that has the push push 250k pots...so once I double check I'll be puttin' an order in..

Cool. If it doesn't say on the pot, put a meter across the 2 outside lugs of the pot, not the switch lugs.

I like the idea of push-push too. SLAP - neck pickup, SLAP - bridge pickup. Much easier.

Zerb: You and ESP is like oil and water. :laugh2: :D

that one you showed me on allparts.com, the more expensive one, that's push push..that's why it cost more =) I'm pretty sure that's DPDT??

:smack: DUH! I didn't even notice that. From the image it looks like a DPDT. I'd call or email them and ask just to be sure.

Perfect! I love that place, and they're somewhat local to me, in-state anyway. I get shipments real fast.

I sold a Skull & Snakes because I hated that push/pull switch and didn't like the Screamin Demon either. Other than that, the guitar was pretty killer.
