Re: What produces better harmonics?
I am surprised nobody mentioned the distortion yet

Dimarzio EVO. Used one in an LP for a while, and it was a screamer. I hear the Norton screams, but I never tried it.
The DIM's always have more harmonics because of their mis matched coils
Huh... I did not know that.
I'm not sure High output is always an indicator- though it helps. Some PAF styles are great for pinches- in the Duncan lineup, Pearlys and 59s for example.
Listen to early Scorpions material with Mathias Jabs- first 4 albums. Thats T-tops & Shaws in the Explorers, a 58 Les Paul with PAFs, and schaller Hot Stuffs in his vintage Strats.
Gary Moore used to get KILLER squealies on his 61 strat. Corridors of Power is full of them. Just forward to 1:27 take a listen to the solo, and wait for it!
Rory Gallagher got killer pinches as well with his strat.
Matthias jabs wasn't on the first 4 scorps albums. lonesome crow, fly to the rainbow, in trance, virgin killer, taken by force, those were uli Jon roth, with the exception of the first, that was Michael schenker. Tokyo tapes, also uli. Starting with animal magnetism, then blackout, love at first sting, savage amusement, crazy world, etc etc; that's jabs.

The tighter, more screaming brother of that pickup is the jb/fullshred hybrid. The separation, bite and articulation and tighter low end of the fullshred, and the superharmonics, mids.and fluidy leads of the jb.
What about alternative 8?
I think the output and big mids on it may contribute to cutting yet punchy harmonics. I've yet try, maybe a real user could give you detailed comment.
You misread my post. I know all this except you areincorrect, Mathias & Michael played on Lovedrive (which you neglected to mention) . Michael only played on 2 tunes for positive, and he may have contributed to Coast to Coast.
Not the first 4 Scorpions albums, the first 4 Scorpions albums with Mathias Jabs.
