What pups do you use in your Strat?

Re: What pups do you use in your Strat?

I guess I can post again since my Strat has gone through another transition.

Cool Rails: neck and bridge
Hot Stack: middle

I think I'm gonna change the Stack back to an SSL-6 though. Its a tough decision. They both sound good in their own way.

Re: What pups do you use in your Strat?

These days I am somewhat addicted to my strat, to think I'd never enjoyed one before is very strange to me...........but I had never played one with A2 pups either.

Re: What pups do you use in your Strat?

I have an MIM 50's Reissue that's actually quite wonderful -- the center of the 2-tone 50's finish had a glow to it that caught my eye that fateful day at Sam Ash.

Wonder if it sounds good? Hmmm.... Yes it does, even with the stock ceramics. Imagine it with a pickup upgrade, hmmm.... I'll take it.

So I bought a set of Fender Fat 50's and put them in and it sounded great. The Fat 50's are still in there but I'm interested in the Twangbanger or Antiquity Custom Bridge for the bridge spot.

I really wish Seymour made a Five-Four...

I've got an SSL1 in the neck, stock middle, and a lil 59 in the bridge. The 59 is pretty frreakin' awesome, though I'm thinking of going to an SSL3 or SSL6 for a more traditional bridge tone and to get my notch position back...

How big of a difference do you guys think I'd hear in my neck/mid position if I switch the middle to an SSL1? This is one of my most used tones and I've often wondered if it would be better with like pickups instead of the one staggered one not configuration I've got going on now.

I love the tone of the SSL-1's in my Legacy. IMO it's the classic Strat sounds you hear all over. The Twangbanger is the icing on the cake. I can even get quite a convincing "metal" sound through my Marshall with it.

Re: What pups do you use in your Strat?

Whatever happened to those new strat stacks that were being passed around some of our more famous forum members about six months ago? I don't recall that they had yet been named, but people seemed pretty excited by them. Have they come ot market yet?
