what recording equipment do you guys use?

Re: what recording equipment do you guys use?

twilight: what's that cool looking rack piece with the old school level meters that looks like it came out of a WWII biplane - a compressor? I'd love to goof with that!
Actually, that's the Arsenal Audio (now called JDK Audio) mic preamp. It's a wonderful mic preamp, very flat response. Only about 50dB of gain, however.

Twilight, that is some serious gear! Very nice stuff.

I started a long time ago with a Mackie CR-1604 and a Fostex 4 track cassette, and later and Alesis ADAT. But my goal was to record my songs with live drums instead of the E mu Pro-cussion module I'd been using, so I bought a bunch of mic pre's/channel strips, mostly used ones. Focusrite green EQ's and voiceboxes, JoeMeek VC1q, Presonus Eureka, Trident S20, Presonus M80, TL Audio C1 stereo mic pre/compressor, a Sytek quad mic pre. Audio interface for all that is a MOTU 2408 mk3 and 1296. You need a lot of mics, preamps, and inputs to record a big drum set! If I were just recording one or two tracks at a time I would have quit after getting just a couple of pre's, and I wouldn't have gotten the second interface.

My computer is an hp xw9300 workstation and I use Cubase SX3. I hope to upgrade to Cubase 5 when I have some cash.
