I am looking for a Humbucker for the bridge of my Fender American Series Strat/Rosewood fingerboard
for Hard Rock and Blues, with a Fender Tweed Deluxe amp. Thanks for any info.

Any pickup can work depending on your tastes. I have a JB in my Strat, but I've tried the CC, C-5, Distortion and 59 in that guitar and it was all good.

Do you like brighter or darker tones, higher or lower output?

I would like a pup that is not high output, as I have enough overdrive betwwen my amp and Marshall Bluesbreaker II pedal. So I need one that sounds good clean as well as a ballsy breakup. Which one is your favorite? Would the Screamin Demon work?

I had a Screamin' Demon in my Strat. The top end is kind of harsh in it's stock form, replacing the hex screws for normal slot-headed screws made me like this pickup alot. It has that PAF-ish twnag to it, but a ton of mids. It's got a really nice snarl to it. It's certainly worth trying.

The 59 Trembucker is a great all around humbucker....Another option that I Like is using a 59B/Custom Hybrid with the ability to cut the coil down to around 7k....I then toggle back and forth between full humbucker at around 11k and the 7k split tones...It's not a perfect single coil bridge tone, but this is the closest I've gotten to getting something that sounds very close to that...Don't let the 11k scare you. This hybrid pickup is very articulate and takes the qualities from the 59 and the Custom series and then you decide on either A2 or A5 magnets?

People say the Blues Saraceno pickup is great also...Depends whether you still need single coil bridge tone or just a humbucker? Nice to see you back George,it's been awhile.

Adding to what I posted earlier, I did not like the Demon split.

Can anybody compare the S-Demon with the JB? I have a JB now, but...

You need to have at least 6k or so dc resistance(along with some other factors)for a split humbucker to sound right, otherwise the split tone is bright, thin, and anemic in my opinion..

I have a pair of late 50's tweed Deluxes and I'm mostly a Strat player. I like the 59 Trembucker John suggested...especially if you're going to use stock single coils for the neck and middle. I also like the Custom Custom alot...it's a little hotter (not alot) and has more mids and a smoother/creamier tone than the 59B...I use it in one of my single pickup Strats as the bridge pickup.

custom custom!! i have 12 "strats" with hums in the bridges and for what you want a custom custom should do it real well. it also does metal damn well too in case you have a day where you feel like turning up the gain lol.

I'm really digging the Lil Pearly Gates in my 62 MIJ RI, so I guess the Pearly might be worth looking at as well.

Another vote for the 59B or go Custom Custom if you need more ouput and a bit warmer tone.

Re: What 's the best Humbucker for the bridge of a Strat?

my two favorites are the pearly gates and the blues patb3
