What Duncans sound similar to Gibson 496R @ 500T's ?
none. if you like the sound of gibson pickups then buy gibson pickups

Re: What SD's sound like....?

Gee you think that would work?
Since I see your only 16 I will spare you the flame since you obviously dont understand what I am asking for..

What exactly are you looking for? Tonal similarites - for what reason? I'm sorry, I'm a little confused on where you're going with this...

Re: What SD's sound like....?

we just had a thread like this not any more than three weeks ago and really there aren't any pickups that sound like gibsons pickups but gibsons pickups. if you use the search feature you might be able to find that thread

Re: What SD's sound like....?

Seeds, first off... welcome to the forum. I don't think 3 cent hero meant anything malicious from his post, he's just telling the truth. To be honest, I wouldn't touch any Gibson pup (besides the original PAFs) with a 10 ft. pole. Bland, boring and uninspiring are three words that come to mind. But none of this is about me, tell us some tonal properties of what you're looking for, what guitar you're putting it in, the type of music you play and we'll try and point you in the right direction.

By the way, if there is any "flaming" going on on this forum, you won't get any help whatsoever and you won't fit in here... just some words of advice ;) I can see you're new, but I'm just telling it how it is.

man, you need to chill out. anyways... as Chris said, i am telling the truth, gibson pups are gibson pups, not duncans. and, like he said, gibbys are pretty stale. but holler at us with what type of tone you want with what axe and we'll all definately help ya out

Re: What SD's sound like....?

Sorry guy's my bad for not supplying the needed info, and I did not mean to offend, but looking at it from this point of view the first responce came off as short and rude. I guess I would have said "There are no SD's that resemble Gibsons in tone". or the such and such is close Etc...Anyway I'll keep searching elsewhere. Thank's anyway.

C'mon buddy, don't go anywhere else... (you won't find as much knowledgeable people anywhere) seriously we have some great tone-gurus around... just tell us what you're looking for as far as tonal properties go... we might find something even better that you'll like... anyways, welcome!

Re: What SD's sound like....?

I have the BB PRo and feel the C-5 is somewhat similar as far as the tonal and EQ structure but the C-5 is much hotter. Odd though....it doesn't feel that much hotter when cranked up through an amp on stage. I think the BB Pro is hotter than even Gibson realizes, LOL! Anyway....I thought they sounded in the same ballpark but there was an ouotput difference.....maybe I'd even lump the 59 in with those.

I know quite a few guys who have swapped out 500T models for the Duncan Custom because they wanted a similar tone but smother and slightly less output. With this I have no direct experience.

I also hear some say the JB is what Gibson was going for with the 498T.
