What setup would you bring into a studio?

Something Securb said about bringing a half stack to a recording session got me wondering: What do you all bring into a studio for serious recording work?
This can certainly include home studios and DAW. If you want to list specific mics or plug ins thats also relevant.
I would probably use my 5 watt Picovalve through my 1x12 convertible cab with a C-Rex along with either of my distortion pedal setups. Any of my guitars would do.

If I had to travel to a studio today I would bring my Peavey Classic 30 head and my 1x15 I would also bring my Fender M80 head or my Fender Excelsior if there was a lot of multitracking involved.

I bring a handful of guitars, and my Fractal FM3. I also bring a laptop for quick editing. I like recording in the control room.

Shure SM57 and Royer R121 for micing cabs. I'd use both of my Marshall A 4x12 cabs. Mackie mixer to a DAW of some kind. My recording knowledge/experience stops at the mics.

I'd use most of my guitars. Mostly the LP. And all of my amps.

Rack O' Guitars, Vox AC30, my hot-rodded Fender BDRI......Still waiting to acquire my mini-Marshall Jubilee...

Depends on the quality of the studio and what the job needed. If it was a A Class studio I would bring a few of my guitars and pedalboard along with my Kemper. If it was not a top tier studio I would bring what I said prior and additionally a few amps and a couple cabs. I would have everything needed to cover what was needing to be covered. I wouldn't bring mics, etc. I would hope they have all that stuff.

Amp, a few pedals, extension cab, two electric guitars. Acoustic guitar as well if one of them is going to be used on the sessions. Basically, anything that I know and like the sound of.

I've got several mics, but don't think there would be a point in bringing them - unless this is a pretty ghetto studio I'd expect that they would have their own mics they're comfortable with.

Probably my Soldano Decatone and either my 2x12 cab or my UA Ox, and my pedalboard. Then a small selection of guitars to find which suits the session.

depends on what the session was. i usually use an old fender reverb amp but maybe a tweed or marshall or vox would suit better. plenty of guitars to choose from and again it depends on what im doin in there

I gotta say -it's not the gear(amps or mic list) or the room generally for me.

It's purely the skills of the engineer with HIS gear he knows well, his body of work in that space and his ability to work faster and take pressure off me doing these tasks and for me to concentrate on performance.

I know guys that you could give them a cubical room with no treatment and Guitar center brand mics and they can make something great. It's about listening and knowing how to get the best from the gear a place has.

Do you think that those sorts of engineers would be happier working with a low watt head and a single speaker cab, or a larger head and half stack? Or even something like a profiler direct in?

It's a great question -I've seen success with most all methods.

Typically, an engineer experiments with his equipment and finds several go-tos to present as the best workflow for bands to start with in his studio then they may experiment away from this after scratch tracks -I know one studio where the engineer (who has engineering many records you've heard and/or bought) likes every guitarist to start with his house 60s Fender Deluxe amp and go from there, whereas I know another engineer who wants people to use his Friedman 100W head as a basis.

On the whole I think most engineers given the choice would take the larger and higher end gear if it didn't disrupt their setup, but practicality with money, resources. and space dictates that compromises must be made -but ultimately you can achieve a similar result with smaller and lower end gear.

Good engineers are open to either. The producer might prefer one or the other.

I once was told if your engineer can’t hear it, you can’t get it. I have been a victim of this several times in bigger studios.

A Marshall head or two depending on how much lead work I had to do.
2 guitars One active one passive.
My pedal board.

That's it, simple is good for me.

I'd assume they'd have a cabinet with V30s or T-75s and I'd be happy with either of those.
I'd assume they'd have sm57s or sm58s
If they didn't have cabinets as specified, I'd bring a 1960a
If they didn't have any mics... I'd bring a couple 57s.

I'd bring my Picovalve and 1x12 cab. My pedal setup. My Shecter. And my Jackson.
