Re: What size picks do you use?

Dunlop Ultex 1.14's. Strong, stiff, durable. They last forever, and have a nice bright snap to them that I can't get with other lighter picks.

Re: What size picks do you use?

.88, tortex right now but im gonna try ultex soon cause i found some rounded triangle ones and i love that shape

Ditto except I use 1.00s :22:

Re: What size picks do you use?

I find thinner picks easier to palm mute with for some reason its not so stiff so the down and upstrokes can be a lot quicker.Do you reckon thicker picks improve tone? As in they bring out more from your guitar.

Re: What size picks do you use?

I use 1mm Ultex and .73mm Ultex.

They last forever, give good string feel, and excellent snap.

The only thing I hate is the colour (semi-transparant). When you drop them, they're a bitch to find.

I played with thinner picks for years (Dunlop L, M-L, and M). When I switched to 1mm it took me awhile before I could play without them getting hung up on the strings, or flying out of my hands. Doing fast up/down palm muting was near impossible at first, but now that I'm used to the heavy picks I can't play with the thin ones anymore.

Re: What size picks do you use?

I use a Dunlop 1 mm. I used a .33 mm for years because I thought it gave me a smoother tone on the strings. It took me a while to get used to the thicker picks but you can articulate so much better because the pick doesn't bend as much and the strings snap back faster and harder. The thicker pick gave me a thicker tone too. I couldn't believe how much difference a pick could make.

Re: What size picks do you use?

Fender 346 heavy or extra heavy (rounded triangle). I read in an interview with Carlos Santana in 1978 that he played with "...a huge chunk of plastic." Since he was at the time (and still is now) one of my favorite players, I wanted to try a big pick. Since then, I guess I just like the feel. I seem to have more control over attack.

Re: What size picks do you use?

1.14 mm Dunlop Gator Grips, because they are the perfect thickness for me, and they don't slip out of my fingers the way other brands do.

Ditto. I use that exact size and everything. Best picks I've ever used and unless Dunlop comes out with something better, I'll stay dedicated to them. Articulate, very strong (pick slides WON'T wear these babies down), look great, feel great, have tons of snap and attack. Perfection really :)

Re: What size picks do you use?

Dunlop immitarion turtle shell 1.5mm SHARPies. Pointy.... I like pointy. Thicker and pointier are just better tonally on accoustics. I just like the feel and response I get on electrics with the same picks.

Re: What size picks do you use?

Dunlop Tortex 2mm.

They are very long wearing. They don't bend, which makes fast runs easier. And i like the tone they give.

Re: What size picks do you use?

Im with guitar guy, exept im afraid of using mine. I respect them more than anything. Ur wondering but wut about your house.... Go To Hell! I told u i respect my Dunlop Tortex .60mm more than anything. I dont play with them! Ill use the Ultex, Gels Or Gatorgrip. BUT NOT MY TORTEX!!!!!!!!

Re: What size picks do you use?

I´m assuming you just forgot the decimal point, an 80mm pick would be over 3 inches wide :saeek: :D:D:D

I play Dunlop Tortex 1.14mm more or less exclusively, although I´m starting to like the Dava-Control picks with the delrin tips.... ;)

2.0 mm dunlop gators.

+1

Except for my Tele, for some reason I hate those picks on that guitar, so I've grown accustomed to playing Tortex .60mm. Go figure.
