Jazz III
the ultimate shredder pick.

same here, it also works nicely for picking on an acoustic...

i went to the jazztone 204 or somethign like that for 2 weeks, loved them but i still prefered the jazz III

Re: What size picks do you use?

Dunlop Tortex 1.14's....coz Slash uses them :D

Having trouble with them though when trying to do fast alternate picking, probably need somthing a bit more bendy??

Re: What size picks do you use?

Jaganath - I've found its easier to do trem picking on thicker picks because they dont bend and slow you down

you could try a Jazz III. they are thick and also really small - which will help because they force you to play correctly

by this i mean you cant "dig in" far, you have to use the tip of the pick, which is the only way you can pick fast.

Re: What size picks do you use?

I use Tortex .73 on Acoustic & .88 on Electric. I also use my fingers quite a bit as well. I hold the pick in my middle finger when I use my fingers, and flip it out when I need it.

Re: What size picks do you use?

.60 Tortex sometimes .73 , I don't drop um as much as others, and im mostly strumming so i don't need anything too thick, pretty good wearing too, and they are a bright colour so when i do drop them i can usually find them.

Re: What size picks do you use?

I voted 1mm and over..I used to use tortex 60's but then i tries the Dunlop 1.14mm , dunno what tyoe tho it has something like SOO on the turtles Shell....Unfortunatly i lost all of em (i only bought 2 they day i was in town cos i was short of cash) so at the moment i use the same but .96mm

Re: What size picks do you use?

i use fender heavies- i like the smooth plastic feel, dont know what theyre made of or what thickness. Does dunlop make a shiny plastic thick pick that may be good?

Re: What size picks do you use?

Dunlop Tortex SHARP 1.35 mm... switched to Ultex to tone down the brightness.

I still prefer pocket change. :D

Re: What size picks do you use?

Dunlop Gels.

I used to use the Fender picks, but when I moved the local shops I went to didn't carry them, but the Dunlop Gels seem almost identical to me, so I used them for years until I switched to the Tortex and Ultex.

Re: What size picks do you use?

I use both .88 and 1.14 mm dunlop tortex picks, mainly the 1.14s.

Re: What size picks do you use?

I like my picks like I like my womens: Thick & grippy!

Re: What size picks do you use?

Dunlop Jazztone 205's. The best picks ever. Replaced the Jazz lll's that I used for my whole life. Smoother sounding, less "click", less slip.

If you like to play lead or fast single note lines, you owe it to yourself to try these out.

Simply the best I've ever tried. I'll never go back. :D

Re: What size picks do you use?

heyyyyy i love my tortex 88 but i really doesn t last very long..... and i don t find anything else better here in belgium (fuc**ng land...). i really want to try these ultex

Re: What size picks do you use?

dunlop nylons .60mm

awesome grip and it's the sound i'm looking for...not too hard not to soft...just right...

I agree...when I was focussed on shredding I found the Dunlop Big Stubbies to be great for it because the stop and start exactly where you do.

Re: What size picks do you use?

1mm Fender oval triangles. Sometimes when I'm on the speedy mood I take a pack of 1.5-2mm oval triangle Dunlop Stubby picks.

2.0 mm dunlop gators.

Me, too. I still haven't jammed with anyone who likes their picks as thick as I do.

For picks, I always prefer the heaviest f*cking things I can find. I still don't know of anything heavier than a 2.0 mm. Does anyone?

Also, I can't figure out why so many people like Tortex. Gators give you a much more solid grip... I find my fingers almost never slip on Gators.

BTW - I also play bass and light or medium guage picks don't cut it with bass strings.
