Re: What size picks do you use?

I have used Dunlop Tortex Flatpick Sharp .88, 1.0 and 1.14 for years. I am finding that I like standard instead of sharp, lately. Guess I'm getting old. :)

Re: What size picks do you use?

Dunlop Jazz III Stiffo Sharp
Sturdy long lasting pick that doesn't leave pick-dust all over my pickguard.
I used the Nylop version of this pick also and found the Stiffo version easier to keep ahold of.
Rock On :smoker:

Re: What size picks do you use?

Dunlop 0.88mm nylon just like Grandad used, **** I'm old enough to be Grandad!
Used them for over 25 years, habit I guess.

Re: What size picks do you use?

dunlop classic shells, mediums. I'm a sucker for rosin picks for some odd reason. I go through em a bit too fast.

Re: What size picks do you use?

I use a variety of picks depending on what mood I'm in... (all are dunlops except where noted)

Jazz III 1.14 Tortex - Shredder
Jazz III Black Stiffo - Shredder with bite!
Jazz III Red Nylon - Smooooth shredder....
.73mm Yellow Tortex - Plain 'ol rockin' out.
1.14 Gator Grip or Ultex - Gettin' heavier *kachunk*
.60 Gator Grip - Strummin'
no-name Brass 1.0 mm - Billy Gibbons and Extra Grind!
Dava Control Pick - Skitzo!

Re: What size picks do you use?

Dunlop Stubby 2 and 3mm. I lost my 2mm so i need new ones but i like the 3mm too. For rythm stuff and metal stuff i play regular dunlop things...the purple ones, they are a little over 1mm i think

Re: What size picks do you use?

I play with plectr'o medium (with a hole in the middle) when playing slow rhythms. For quicker riffs I prefer a dunlop 500 .71 or a gibson usa medium. It gives me a sharper and more precise stroke.

I also got a chuncky one (about 3mm where you grab it) that I fancy for playing with my acoustic guitar. The only problem is, it was a bonus in a magazine and I never found one quite like it in a shop...

Re: What size picks do you use?

I find thinner picks easier to palm mute with for some reason its not so stiff so the down and upstrokes can be a lot quicker.Do you reckon thicker picks improve tone? As in they bring out more from your guitar.
Same reason for me, i like my Dunlop .60 nylons casue they last forever, not too thin, not too thick.

Re: What size picks do you use?

Reaching into my pocket, I find:

A purple dunlop .96 with an alligator on it. Not slippery in the hand and good tone. Only problem is they wear fast. I'll munch one pretty badly over the course of a gig.

Re: What size picks do you use?

Orange Tortex .60mm, I've used them for so long on acoustic and electric, I can't use anything else.

Re: What size picks do you use?

I've been using the Dunlop Tortex Sharp (1.35mm, the black ones) for three years now.

I use them becuase they are super thick and have great dynamics--they really give you that mean tone, too.
They kind of have a point at the tip; but I like that because I think it gives you more control of the pick, and it feels more agile.
