What software you use for wiring diagrams?

Hello everyone, so I want to make a few diagrams myself to better document what I am doing lately and hopefully share with you and get some feedback. I nice coloured and looking is better so I wonder if you can recommend me some software you use and works, looking for Free/OpenSource options as I won't put any money on that as I am not a pro and not looking for pirating anything either. Thanks in advance.

Spending money has nothing to do with being a pro, it's about an end-result.

However, I'm sure GIMP could make as good a diagram as anything - just like a guitar, it all depends on whose hands are on it.

I use Gadwin Systems' Diagram Studio, mostly because it already takes care of things like routing connectors from point to point and I don't have to fight with Bezier curves. While there are features I'd like to see added to it, I get more done faster than in a quality paint/photo program.

Exactly, my end results are crap so I am definitely not a pro :) and I don't think I can get to make a pro diagram but at least something more decent than the finger painting I currently do :earl:

The only soft ware that I use for schematic diagrams lurks between my ears.

Pen and paper (or the back of a napkin). If I were a smoker, I would use the proverbial back of a fag packet.

Re: What software you use for wiring diagrams?

you can alway use an abandoware image editor (abandoware is a no longer lucrative software, in other words you can pirate photoshop cs2 and the people on adobe wont crucificate you since they no longer get money from that version) but GIMP is always good, most electronic dedicated circuit simulators and diagram creators work on schematic base, so you have to at least know the schematic symbols of components (you can get confused with ease if you don't pay attention)

Hey, that DIY looks nice. What I'd really love to see is one that would simulate current flow so you know if a given connection/switch option was valid.

Adobe will claim their $10/month subscription fee as fair grounds to not use pirated software.

Given that you can take pics and upload with you phone I would go the pen and paper option. No learning curve needed.
