Re: What Strat SCs for Texas Hot sound but noiseless?
billy recorded with a '59 lp and an old strat with stock pups. if you want your strat to sound like pearly then you might try some thing like the lil 59. what amp are you using?
Re: What Strat SCs for Texas Hot sound but noiseless?
Getting 2 Vintage Hot Stack Plus pickups will do it. Add a Custom Stack Plus in the bridge for more output there. It is difficult to sound just like a traditional single coil with more output and be noiseless- as it gets hotter, you lose highs. As you add a noise-cancelling coil, it will also change the sound.
Although a Stack version of the Antiquity Texas Hots could be made in the Custom Shop...hmmmm.
Re: What Strat SCs for Texas Hot sound but noiseless?
Thanks a bunch guys. I know I'm going noiseless always changes tone a little but I'm looking for a Strat on roids anyways without going with humbuckers.
Re: What Strat SCs for Texas Hot sound but noiseless?
If you want a strat on roids, look into the fender clapton mid boost. That with a plain old set of vintage noiseless goes from classic twang to throaty humbucker like sounds with the roll of a knob. Its a lot of fun to play.easy to quickly dial in a lot of different tones
Re: What Strat SCs for Texas Hot sound but noiseless?
i have a clapton boost and i love it. i have classic stack + neck and middle with a vintage hot stack bridge. while its a great unit, i dont think it makes a single coil sound like a humbucker. it adds a ton of mids and output for a fat sound but i wouldnt call it a humbucker sound

I'm a big fan of Fenders Hot Noiseless pickups, the best of both worlds IMO, I've had them in my #1 Strat for 11 years and have never wanted anything else
