What strings are you using?

Re: What strings are you using?

on my tele and Squier strat Ernie Ball Regular Slinky (10-46), and on my Gretsch BST-1000 I use Power Slinky (11-48). Right now on my acoustic I have DR Rare-Lites (10-48) but didn't like them very much, so I need to try something new.

Re: What strings are you using?

I use some custom sets of Ernie Ball depending on the scale and the tuning. 25.5" scale, standard tuning gets 9, 12, 16, 24w, 32, 44. Drop-C, 25.5" scale 10, 14, 18, 26w, 36, 56. The former set gives a B and low E that isn't way looser than the rest of the strings, and gives a nice gradual rise in tension as the strings rise in pitch. Keeps everything from feeling and sounding loose and flubby. Same thing for the Drop C set - a gradual rise in tension from low to high keeps the lower strings feeling nice and tight in relation to the higher ones, plus the Dropped C set has about the same overall tension as the set of 9s, which made for minimal truss rod adjustment going to Drop C.

Re: What strings are you using?

Just got into the Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys. I usually throw an 8 on the E.

Re: What strings are you using?

D'Addario ProSteels. They're stainless steel strings and I play them in gauge(s) 8-38. They are also super bright and are D'Addario's most magnetic string -- so they beat the hell outta your pickups. Cheers.

Re: What strings are you using?

Blue Steel 11-52 with the wound G string. I've been using these for about 2-3 years now. I've been using Blue Steels for about 15 years.

Re: What strings are you using?

GHS Boomers 9-42, 9-46, 10-46 and 10-52 on my electrics depending on scale length and tuning.

On my Acoustic I use GHS Bright Bronze 12 t 54 and Silk and Steel 11-48 depending on my mood.

Re: What strings are you using?

Dean Markley Nickelsteel 009-046 (wound from 010) or 010-052 (wound from 011).

I am very satisfied with the quality, but not with the particular thickness chosen. In both sets, some middle strings are too thin or too thick.

I'll do some 0.010, 0.12, .016, .028, .038, .048 set next.

I also want to explore pure nickel on some guitars.

Re: What strings are you using?

D'Addario EXL110 (10 - 46) for a conventional rock/blues sound
D'Addario ECG24 (11 - 50) for a jazzy tone

Re: What strings are you using?

DR Pure Blues 11-50 on Gibson scale
DR Pure Blues 10-46 on Fender scale
DR Extra Life 12-54 on acoustic

Re: What strings are you using?

Daddario EXL 110 10-46 for electrics. i forgot the gauge on the acoustic but it's Daddario phosphor bronze.

Re: What strings are you using?

GHS TNT Boomers 10-52 on all my guitars\, I used to use 9-46 on my trem equipt guitars but lately I was bending the A and Low E off the fretboard so I bumped them up to the TNTs
Ernie Ball 10-52 I will buy if I have to ,but I prefer the tone and life of the Boomers

Re: What strings are you using?

Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys. have never had any issues with them breaking.

Re: What strings are you using?

Dean Markley hybrid set on my main Les Paul, 9-46.

DM 10-46 on double cut LP and SG.

Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9-42 on Charvels and Fenders.

I occasionally use D'Addario and Fender Super Bullets. The SBs sound terrific on my Lonestar Strat. I've also used the DR color coated strings, but they just weren't for me. They look cool, though.

Re: What strings are you using?

It depends on the guitar, but okay...
* For every electric EXCEPT my Teles & LPs, I use a stainless steel Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky set, 9-46.
* For the LPs & Teles, I use a stainless steel Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom set 10-52.
* For the acoustic 6s, I use whatever is cheap, but I seem to gravitate towards something D'Addario.
* For the 12 strings, I use D'Addario J-38 sets.
* Basses get GHS Boomers, usually medium.
* Mandolins get whatever I can find on sale.
