why dont you just use the skinny top/heavy bottom set?
it's not that far off, .52 instead of .56, but it's cheaper than buying two sets and having half of them go to waste?

Electric: DR Pure Blues .011's
Acoustic: DR Phosphor Bronze .013's

Both tuned to standard pitch.


I like strings to feel massive and strong. I hate when they feel too slinky or when they go sharp when fretting a chord.

And thicker strings just sound better (louder, fuller, and better when clean).

.....and they don't break as much.

That is soo thin man.

Thin? That´s what Yngwie uses, except he has a 8 (!) for the first E-string, but as you know: he also tune it all down to D#!!! :smack:

Same thing with Billy Gibbons on ZZs last disc , and he was tuning down also!

i want to try those not even slinkys. they're hard to find for me.

EB Slinky's in either 9-46 on most of my guitars, or 10-46 on a couple. I've got a box of both lying around. When those are gone, I'm going to try Elixir Polyweb Electrics.

Huh , and I thought I`d be the only one to use that set . Do you have any luck finding that set at local music stores? I have to order mine through MF.

Yeah, my local store carries 'em. 5 bucks a pack. I haven't seen 'em too many places though. What's MF charge? Duh :smack: I'll go check. Wow, they're on sale for $3.89 right now. Not bad.

Yeah I used to, but I like the tone of the .56, I tried the ZW 60 set but that was to much.

Fat Strat:set to D standard 11 to 50 guage.. DR'S and D'addario

Strat Deluxe:same as above

On acoustic for Ibanez artwood cutaway... 12 gauge D'addarios which last way longer than Dean Markeleys or Martin SP's which were my old choice. Those or Elixirs when i dont gig for a while.
