Well... just post the Strings and why you play them...

DR Pure Blues... strong, bluesy rock sound
D'Addario EXL120... bright, clear tone

And of course Bass
D'Addario Chromes Flat ECB81-5SL... Contrabass like, fat Sound

Re: What Strings do you usually play?

I would love some DR's but alas I'm just to poor!

I used to be a big fan of Regular Slinky's but after A/Bing them on my Heritage I decided they just had too much mud.

I LOVE Everly 52-10s. They have great singing tone and clear. The rockers or swigers (with wound 3rd) sound great. But they are impossible for me to find locally. sooooooooooo

I've started using GHS 52-10's on my Heritage, Godin, Tele, and ES, but on my strat I'm still using the regular 10's.

I'm not picky...whatever's cheapest. At the moment I'm using some Everly's. MF was selling them super cheap last year and I bought enough to last me probably 5 years.

The Stings are a Part where I wouldn't buy just the cheapest.... they make a big difference in tone and are the first thing to change right before the pickups imo

I use Ernie Ball Strings either the 10's or 11's.

Right now I have 11's.

I use them because the brightness from the strings dont fade.

I had DR 9's on before and Frankly they suck.

Re: What Strings do you usually play?

ernie ball 10's(11's for downtuned stuff and on just one of my guitars)
they don't fade out too quick and aren't that expensive.

Re: What Strings do you usually play?

I use Ernie Ball 10-52's (ST-HB), because they're cheaper, and the tone has always been quite nice to me. However, one time as an experiment I put on a set of Dean Markley 9-38's and the tone was so clear and percussive... once I put the heavier strings on it got all muddy :( ... Anyway

I want to try out a set of DR Pure Blues (those are the coated strings right?) in 10-46... only problem is drop tuning. I've seen 10-49 (D'Addario, I bought a set and have yet to try them out), I think 10-52 is maybe a tad heavy on the bottom strings for crunch.

Re: What Strings do you usually play?

A very, very old set of EB 9's. Well ya know, if it aint broke......

Re: What Strings do you usually play?

Epi LP's - Gibson Les Paul Signature 9-46
ESP LTD KH502, Gibson SG Faded - GHS Boomers 10-46
ESP LTD KH602, ESP LTD Viper - D'addario 10-46
Fender strats - GHS Boomers 9-42

With each guitar I try to achieve a different sound or play a different style so different types of strings and guages are required...

I'm not sure what kind of string s I'm gonna use on my Martin. I like the way the orig martin strings that came on it sound, so I may stick with that. I have use Elixirs in the past (on a different guitar) and really like the way those sound and feel.

Re: What Strings do you usually play?

D'Addario XLs in various gauges....10-46, 10-49, 10-52 depending on the guitar.

Re: What Strings do you usually play?

D'addario Chromes ribbon-wound, there is no substitute, my own "custom gauge" check sig for the guages.

Re: What Strings do you usually play?

For the Les Paul and the Bastardcaster, I use a Stainless Steel set of EB Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms (10-52). For all other electrics, Stainless Steel EB Hybrid Slinkys (9-46). Basses get GHS Bass Boomers Medium Guage. SS Acoustics use Earthwood mediums, Nylon strings get whatever I can find, but used to use Augustine Blue.
