What the hell is going on in the verse of Helter Skelter?

I've been trying to figure this out for the longest time, but the guitar is so relatively quiet and distant sounding. I think I may have just got it, is it something like E to E7? I know there's a D in there somewhere, but is it as simple as just playing and E chord with the D string open?

Alright, after I've been messing around with it, it seems that there's the little part in the beginning with the high E open and going from 12 to 3 to 2 to 1 on the B string, then a G for a bit, then just E and E7 for a bit, then G, then A, E, E7, E, E7 then the little riffs off of A and E...
