What to do if pickup baseplate screw holes are stripped?

I've got an old JB with one stripped screw hole on the baseplate...how can I fix it?

Re: What to do if pickup baseplate screw holes are stripped?

I like to drip a wee bit of solder into the hole (just enough to make the hole smaller) and force/finesse the mounting screw into it. It's worked pretty well so far.

i'd just solder it all up, then drill a new hole slightly smaller than the screw diameter

I haven't thought of solder. I've just used tiny dowel rods. :D

Tie a piece of fishing line through the whole.

Get a little nut and solder to the p-up base. It is really simple and works great.

Sometimes with thinner baseplate metals, you can crimp the hole partially closed with a pair of alligator nosed vice grips, then just thread the screw back thru. Never had it happen to any one mine so I couldn't say ... all the responses thus far would seem to work, warpping the screw it's self with teflon tape might work also ... but I think that is far from ideal.

Re: What to do if pickup baseplate screw holes are stripped?

I found another junky pickup in my drawer, and snipped the base's flange off with tin snips. then I put the pickup together with that underneath the stripped base.
I then put a bit of solder on it, to keep it solid. I searched everywhere for a nut that would work, but couldn't find one that small with those tiny threads.
