What to pair with a Dimebucker

I have an old Squier stagemaster that I love and want to upgrade. It's tuned to C# standard. I have a dimebucker laying around that I was gonna put in the bridge. It is a Hss configuration. I was thinking about a screamin demon or a hot rail in the neck but what should I use for the middle pickup. I was also thinking about a SSL-5 in the neck but then again what to put in the middle. Also what if I put the ssl-5 in the neck and something like a hot rail or a JB jr in the middle essentially making it a hhs combo.. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: What to pair with a Dimebucker

I would think Cool Rails, they pair nicely with the Hotrails in the neck. You obviously play metal, so Coolrails being noiseles seems correct.

Re: What to pair with a Dimebucker

I'd go with something not as hot as the Hot Rails. The Cool Rails is a good choice, and if you want to go for something more single-coily, a Vintage Rails. For a more vintage humbucker tone, go with a Lil 59 in the middle.

Re: What to pair with a Dimebucker

I personally think the Hot Rails is a great option but I think the Cool Rails would be good as well.

I loved the tone of the Dimebucker with the Screamin Demon, unconventional but worked extremely well!

Wow.. thanks for the replies.. Yes I have a buddy that also said the screamin demon and the dimebucker were a great combo. I really liked the sound on some youtube videos. The other rails also sounded very cool on the youtube vids. I decided to stop buying guitars for a bit and just upgrade the ones that I have that i'm not to happy with. Would there be a lot of volume difference going from the dimebucker to the demon in the neck. Also is that why no one chimed in on the SSL-5 in the neck. Would the dimebucker just kill to conventional single coils?

Re: What to pair with a Dimebucker

hmmm a JBjrb in the middle and a Jbjrn on the neck, that would make the bridge for all your metal riffage and leave you with an all around shredding tone for the middle and neck, you can also go all around rails, with a hot rails on the middle and cool rails on the neck, or just get a mix of vintegey tones, using a little 59 and a screaming demon.

oh, on last, the dimebucker has a ridiculous output, so much that it's normal pair is a 59 bridge on the neck slot, a neck model single will be a huge volume drop, not to mention the in between sound will be like 90% dimebucker the rest whatever single you run, a hot single like the quarter pound must provide a nice balance.

Here's two short clips I did with a Walnut San Dimas that had the Dimbucker+Screamin Demon combo.

Awesome Clips,,,, I'm beginning to think all Duncans sound better in Strat style guitars!!

Thank you very much! The two Seymour Duncans I've not cared for in Strats are the 59 and the Jazz BUT most people like those in most guitars ;)

Sid , U may like a Tone Zone better than the S-Demon with the Dimebucker . We've done it with Good Results

Re: What to pair with a Dimebucker

I have yet to try a tone zone in the neck position.. I have an Ibanez 2550 that I want to try that with. I have an x2n laying around that I was gonna combo that with to do the Michael Romeo x2n/tzone setup. .. I do love the tone zone in the bridge.. I have an Ibanez 1570 that has the TZ in the bridge, an Ibanez Destroyer that has one in the bridge with a air norton in the neck and last I have a fender telecaster with a tone zone t (that can go series/parallel/single with a mini toggle) paired with an Area T neck.. I use those guitars for many cover band projects in in that range from Eagles and Tom Petty to Maiden/Megadeth.
