So i have an epiphone explorer, i want to change the pickups but don't know what tone pots to buy..

I want to have coil tapping for the bridge pickup so one needs to be a push pull pot.
Really i just need to know what will fit, and what i should buy, and if it would be worth it to change all the pots while i'm at it. would higher quality pots have any real sounds difference?

Thanks

Also when i install the new pots and connect it with the pickups, is there anything else that needs to be done to them or wired in that i don't yet know about?

Re: What tone pots to buy?

500K push pull pots for the volume to do coil tapping, 500K standard pots for tone,, CTS pots are great and available all over. Then you have to decide what kind of tone cap you want to use. If you get new pups they should come with a wiring diagram to show where wires go.

What is a tone cap? lol

In order for the tone knob to work, it needs to be attached to a capacitor. Commonly used values are .047 microfarads and .022 microfarads. You can get capacitors at Radioshack or other electronics stores.

I know that the value of the capacitor determines how much treble your tone knob cuts, but I don't quite remember specifically whether higher values cut more or less treble...
