What Tube Amp do you use?

Re: What Tube Amp do you use?

In order of purchase

1992 JCM900 head: never use it anymore.. sounds like it has been neutered.

1997 Mesa Trem-o-verb head: love it but now sounds like "generic" killer tone... hard to beat for singing leads though.

1981 JCM 800 4104 (2x12 combo): most fun cuz it is just nasty.. and by the way it LOVES the lava box .. super creamy.

and a little Vox tonelab for knockin ideas into the computer without hassles and a decent set of sounds.

Classic 30 ---> 412 cabinet

5 speakers putting out tubey goodness.

tell me more about this rig! what speakers do you use for the combo and the 4x12?

what type of music do you use for this rig? or should I just go by your handle? :)

Re: What Tube Amp do you use?

for special and important gigs i'll haul my 5150 and Classic 50 rig, ( that rig has a special amp switcher unit so i can a/b between the 2 heads into a single cab)... big and heavy but is the best sound i have for any type of gig... it does it all..

Most jamming and band practices i use a Peavey C30 combo... my most used amp of them all..... bought it used for cheap cheap cheap.... and i could do with a newer better amp but this does it's job... It needs tubes real soon.. I could not tell but today it seemed like it was fadeing in volume at a jam.. Could just of been my ears...

Sometimes i was a 42 year old 65 Deluxe amp and sometimes i use an early 80's JCM 800 2204 head..

It's the Classic 30 combo going into a 16 ohm Behringer 412. Stock Jensens in the Behringer 412 and the stock Blue Marvel in the Peavey. The cabinet sounds really good and it lets the Peavey open up. I play in a rock/metal/hardcore band, but I like ALL music. This setup even has great cleans and allows the amp some more headroom. It's a great setup for jazz all the way up to metal. I like it, I'll stick with it for a while.

Re: What Tube Amp do you use?

Sold my 50 watt Marshalls, a Pro sonic 2 x 10 and a Recto and settled on CORNFORD AMPS. A 50 watt MK50 and a 35 watt Hellcat, all point to point hand wired no B/S usable valve amps.... made the old way.

I've got a Mesa/Boogie F-50.
I'm thinking of maybe selling it and getting a single recto or a 5150/6505 this summer though.

Re: What Tube Amp do you use?

I have a few choices...

Or maybe one of these:

Often times, smaller tube amps are the ones I prefer:

Tweeds are very nice to play too!

Oui, les Fender sont tres "cool"! Haha

The number of watts and tubes in the room equals tons of mojo! :headbang:

Re: What Tube Amp do you use?

Hahahah number of tubes. Dude if you ever get bored you know what to do. Call it mojo count indeed!
