What tuner do you use?

Re: What tuner do you use?

What are the real world differences between V1 and V2?

I think it's the better jacks, but I'm not sure. I just got V1 cause it was on t3h cheap when V2 came out, and I'm not going to be arsed to take a pedal that finicky to do live tuning.

Re: What tuner do you use?

I have several methods:

Usually I think of the first note in stairway to heaven's verse, that's an A. if I need a second opinion, I think of the first note in sweet home alabama; that's a D.

I have an LG cell phone that plays MP3s and has external speakers, so sometimes I fire its mp3 player up and turn on a song I know the notes of, like SRV's Little Wing is an Eb, and so on.

If I'm at home, have my TonePort hooked up, and am sitting at the computer, I'll use the electronic-supersonic-robotronic computer tuner that it has. This is not preferred.

My favorite way is to tie my old canoe on tob of the car, and tie rope that goes from he front tow hook to the tip of the canoe as tight as I can get it and a little bit more, tie my top secret canoe ratchet-knot, and then pluck the rope and voila! it's usually an A-flat.

Also I have this really great Guild that stays in tune no matter what, so I just tune all my electrics to it's A string.

p.s. I am completely serious about 4 of the 5 methods listed above.

Re: What tuner do you use?

I have a process here:

#1 use a Korg GA-30 (or whatever)
#2 Make sure you have killer tuners/stable guitar
#3 Tune before the gig
#4 EVERYONE TUNE TO ME BECAUSE I'M IN TUNE!

It's easy....

Re: What tuner do you use?

Boss Tu-2

Tried other things. This fits on ANY board, can power other pedals (up to 6 I think), its an industry standard, easy to use on stage and in the dark, and it can take a beating.

Re: What tuner do you use?

my ears, listen to the beats and tune the guitar to itself. then say i'm in tune and make everyone tune to me.

For me its the flat fith frase of "Its not Love" by Dokken, and I get there by first tuning the open G. 200 bucks for a tuner ????? I would rather spend it on some Mullards, Telefunken, Nos tonecandy or maybe treble booster from Analogman or BSM, I mean there are tons of awesome tonecandy for 200 buck for a tuner? I dont know .....

Re: What tuner do you use?

IMO- for a rock band, it's looks and sounds completely unprofessional to tune to each other.

I hate hearing people tuning- ESPECIALLY during their set.

Of course, this doesn't include things like tuning to a piano.

Re: What tuner do you use?

Sabine STX-1100. It's probably the piece of gear I've owned the longest. When (if) it dies, I'll replace it with another.

Re: What tuner do you use?

I put a Virtual Strobe II in front of my TU-2 for an extra mid boost. It just slams man!!!

LOL!!!

TU-2 user here.
