What type of pickups/producrs do you think the SD line is missing?

Re: What type of pickups/producrs do you think the SD line is missing?

My last post on the topic: Humbuckers are overdone, and the Phat Cat was contracted by Hamer....leaving no real P90 styled HB-sized pickup in the SD line that has the true, brash/wild tone of a Gibby P90.

If SD wants to turn their back on a pile of cash over time...color me a jerk!

What about a booster pedal with graphic and/or parametric EQ?
As for pups, the hum-free single coil -line needs something tad more powerful, like a QP. and what about a SH-5 Custom NECK model? (I know, there are already Jazz n/b, PG, and SH-6n for metal/rock neck pup to go with the Custom) It could have similarly biggy, tight bass, slightly boosted mids, somewhat a lot of presence, and *greasy* lead tone, with descent cleans, and output to match the Custom. Like a ceramic 59n or sth like that; something like the Demon could be it, too. A '78 in sc-housing might be great, too, but hard to make, perhaps (with aircaps and such, I dunno)

Like someone here already stated - the 78 as a part of the standard line would be a very cool thing (don't believe SD would do it, but surprises are always fun).

Less single coils and more of stuff people are actually wanting and could use in the lineup. The sales of most of those singles cant be very high at all.

There really is a point, Theodie.
What about magnets for swapping them by ourselves? (at least A2, A5, Ceramic, but A8 and A4 could be cool, among some others) It might not work, though, 'cause there would be copies sold cheap, and who else than forum lads & gals, and a few guitar repairers and pro sound men would buy them.

If you look at what Dimarzio is doing with their stacked singles, there must be some kind of market for them. They seem to have expanded a lot recently, most of them are very cool. I think Seymour Duncan would benefit from making their versions of "simuliar models".

Funny, I thought that more single coils should be a better option.

Look at the lineup, when is the last time you can remember anyone talking about half of them? I like to think the Forum on here is like a cross section of the playing community. Buckers seem to get more attention these days IMO.

Actually, many people here talk about the single coils that are missing in the line up - like better solutions for the bridge position. You have many posts ere about the right SRV pickup for example but honestly - most companies try to produce one - and here might be the problem: while the SD humbuckers have their own character, the SSL-1, for example, fails to be differentiated from other vintage voiced single coils.
Fender sales a lot and most companies have a few models that interact with the basic Strat model... there's a huge market for singles and I think that companies like Dimarzio look more innovative than SD lately.
The humbucker field might be missing a few pickups, but the single coil line should, IMHO, go through some major changes.

Re: What type of pickups/producrs do you think the SD line is missing?

Yeah, there should be more stacked hummers for Strat, for example one like a QP with more power and good warm vintage sc tone.
