What value pot does a hotrail need?

I know that strats and teles generally come with 250k pots, but I've heard the hotrail uses a 500k. This seems a bit odd. Which one sounds best with a hotrail?

its preferance but i think the hot rail bridge sounds better with a 500k

I had 250K stock pots at first.

Now I have 500K push/pull pots. I think the pickup is "cleaner" with the 500K.

What I like about the 250k pot coupled with a Hot Rail is that it lends the pickup the roundness and warmth of a pickup in the neck position yet maintains the brilliance of the bridge.

The HR is a very dark sounding pickup. I liked it with the 250K pots, but the 500K added a great deal of clarity to the tone of it.
