What was the guitar Richie Sambora played at Live Earth?

Earlier today I catched a glimpse of Bon Jovi playing "It's my Life" and the black & white guitar was... well somewhat unique let's call it. Seemed interesting.

Couldn't read the name on the (black) headstock but I think it started with "Su"

It reads "Sambora" and it's a custom made guitar. Looks to be made by Floyd Rose.

if you mean this one then it wasn't like that. It was a black with a funny white pickguard HH guitar with nickel covers (could have been P-90s too, the funny shape might'd make them look buckers in my eyes) and the headstock was more Tele-shaped (no hole) with machineheads and all.

I know exactly which one you're talking about. He plays the FR Redmonds too. I didn't see the show, but I saw him use it live on the last tour and went on a hunt myself to find out who made it. He's got one with a single bucker and a fixed bridge too. Bloodrose started a thread about it last week and I posted a pic of it in there.

Well, it wasn't that one either but the headstock looked like that so I guess it was one of them. Wonder if we can see them anywhere for ourselves...

Whatever happened to the Fender Sambora sig...

No one ever bought it so it was discontinued... who wants a strat with stay inlays on the neck?

That was the USA made one. The Mexican made one had different specs- it was a basic HSS strat with a Floyd and a Dimarzio PAF Pro in the bridge. That was priced decently...

I heard after Fender he was supposed to sign with Gibson, then the deal fell through

I got a mim sambora strat (with a JB in it now though) and LOVE it...I agree that the star inlays on the us model looked like crap.

Being a big Sambora fan I looked around for some info about it a couple of months ago... though I don't think it's much of a beauty ;)

It's his own "brand" designed by his guitar tech Chris. Here's a video where he talks about it and some of his other gear as well.

"Richie Sambora demonstrates his new Sambora model guitar designed by his guitar tech Chris Hofschneider. Plus an on-stage tour of his amps, guitars, effects and more!"

Cool. That's what I had thought when I was originally researching this myself. Then it was mentioned possibly built by Floyd Rose since they were in the Floyd Rose booth but that looks to be to help promo the Speedloader trems.

Here's a pic of the one I posted in another thread. Single humbucker, fixed Speedloader bridge.

I would have loved to have one of the MIJ black paisley Sambora Strats!!!

I like the star inlays. My buddy has the MIA Sambora model with the star inlays and I have to say it's one of the nicest strats I've ever played, and beautiful to boot.

That custom designed guitar came up on the forums a year or more ago. The one in the picture supplied by Erik is pretty ugly, IMO, but Richie has another one that looks a bit different, and has a Floyd, and maybe a slightly different pick guard.
