what was your experience

Re: what was your experience

You own a guitar that was not designed by Gibson/Epiphone?

Yes, it's true. I had to relax my standards on this so I could still play when I travel. A little travel guitar shaped like a Les Paul would look ridiculous, not unlike a gorilla with a ukelele.

I dunno, they can look okay methinks ... and this one lacks nothing (including weight !) compared to her bigger brothers and sisters (the two in these pics are made from the same piece of Honduras mahogany).

It's harder to get away with when you're six and a half feet tall with some middle-age spread. Even a full-size LP looks small on me. That reminds me: one of my friends came to see me at a gig, I had an LP, and he said "We have to get Rick a bigger guitar."

Seems like the rules are constantly changing, and are even more subject to the mood of whatever airline personnel you have to deal with.

Have a skb type airline resistant case.

Try to keep your guitar as carry on, and get checked in early so hopefully you can get a space in the overhead.
If you have to check your guitar at least it will be somewhat protected from baggage tossers in the skb. If you’re lucky the inspectors won’t drop your guitar and they might even close most of the case latches.
