What woods are your acoustics constructed of?

Re: What woods are your acoustics constructed of?

simon and patrick sp-6... cedar top, mahogany sides!

sounds really interesting - kinda dry and aggressive without being too brash.. looks a bit different too :)

carbon fiber top, fiberglass back, 5 piece mahog/maple/ebony neck. Its an Adamas SMT.

I was looking at Rainsongs...how do you like it?

Re: What woods are your acoustics constructed of?

Mine has a cedar top, with mahogany back, & sides. I like the darker sound of a cedar top. My guitar is an '01 Taylor 514ce. If I could change one thing about it, the fretboard would be rosewood instead of ebony.

Do you hook that Adamas up to your crazy/awesome looping/synth rig? I have been meaning to ask that.

2001 Martin D-28

Spruce, beautiful rosewood back and sides, ebony fretboard. It's the best sounding acoustic I've heard, including all the D-28's at stores. I'm a real believer in rosewood backs. Rich and huge sounding! The real key to an acoustic is having a setup that perfectly matches your picking attack. Setup is everything.

For my Seagull, it's mahogany back and sides, spruce top and rosewood fingerboard. Its got a nice warmth to it and it sounds great fingerpickin or regular pickin.

Same here. I also have a D-28 (2004 model). Best acoustic I ever played. The D-28 has an awesome throw.

My Gibson is all mahogany. It's not my favorite acoustic tone, but I like it because it's so much different from the norm. I have no clue what my Fender is made from - all laminates, I'm sure.

I think spruce/maple would be an excellent choice. Good luck on your quest.
