Right, so..
What would be the Closest set/model of pickups Seymour Duncan has to offer, that will be a good Alternative to Suhr ML standard pickups (now aka V63+)??

Maybe a set of Hot Strat?
Or Custom Staggered/Flat Strat? (SSL5/SSL6)

How would they Compare in general terms of Tone and Output?

And what about Tom Anderson's pickups?
It seems the modern SC/SF and SA pickup have a much higher Output (10-20KΩ / 11-19KΩ),
but the VA's seem to be more in line with the Suhr ML's..

It's hard to find proper comparisons, but considering they're some of the best/most respected makers..
If somebody could describe in general terms the type of Tone/timbre, or say trademark sound/feel that these pickups imprint on your guitar, that'd be great.. :fing2:

Also, is there any other Proper alternative to consider?
Fralin, Lollar, Mojotone, Dimarzio.. Fender?

(btw if I ever pull the trigger they will go on a USA Fender HighwayOne SSS Strat with Maple neck/board,
the stock Alnico3 pickups sound very good already, nothing wrong with them, but maybe a proper Duncan/Suhr/Andersn/other set could improve on that..?)

Looking at the specs, it almost seems like the Custom or Hot Strat would be way on the hot side. While the description says they are overwound, that's not what they sound like in the videos (and the DCR remains fairly low which builds the case, too).

I almost think a Five Two set would be closer to this set in tone.

The neck and middle V63+ are both 6.5 k strat pickups with alnico V magnets. That makes me think maybe something like a Seymour Duncan SSL2 would be in the ballpark . . . as they're a 6.5k wind with alnico V magnets.

The bridge is a little overwound from that, coming in at 7.2k. I don't think SD offers a true single coil like that, but maybe something like the noiseless stk-s7 would be in the ballpark - it's billed as a slightly overwound single coil.

Duncan SSL-2 are very close to some of the Suhr pickups. To me the SSL-2 are slightly warmer than the V63, but more vintage sounding than the Suhr ML. Although the SSL-2 has a similar feel to the ML in some ways, the ML has a fairly unique thickness in the mids which gives it a distinctive voice.

If you choose any Alnico 2, pickup it would become very different to the Suhr's using Alnico 5.

The difference in stagger pattern is also just as important as the wind.
