What would make a great HSS-like Strat build,,,,?

Either a P90 with Surfers (or SSL1's) OR an Ant. Mini HB with the same SC's?? I play mostly clean, using amp & pedal for O/D, and like everyone else, I love those 2 & 4 position sounds, but with a 'ever so slightly' more pronounced bridge position.

Sorry for any redundancy in my post as I try to search for the sound!!

"The sound" is different for everyone... What "the sound" are you looking for?

I love the p90 bridge / Middle strat pickup notch sound, also love mini humbuckers too so tough one lol

Well, I've never owned a Mini HB before, but have had P90's that I have loved for their unique punch. Also, I want to hang on to a nice combo sound in the no. 2 position, and an only slightly aggressive bridge sound. I'm just not familiar enough with a Mini HB.

Like Jake, I too love the sound of P-90s and minis. I think you will get the better notch position sound with a P-90 though, since it IS a single coil pup.

That's not to say that you can't get a good notch tone with the mini. Heck, I've even gotten a good notch tone with some full-sized buckers in the bridge. But, obviously, the best #2 position tone will be with two Strat singles of similar output.
