What year are my Greenbacks?

Hey guys, got a old Marshall 4x12 cab about 8 months ago. The guys that I bought it from said he bought it used in the early 80"s. Anyway I just opened it up and this is what I found.
Model # G12M
Power Capacity 25w
impedance 16 ohms
Bass res 75hz
Rola Celestion LTD
Ipswich
Suffolk
All 4 speakers say that, and the label's are gold. Also all 4 frames say T1221 on them. However the one frame also says BH16X the other says FG22 the 3rd and 4th frame says GH16X. Also the top 2 cones say something on them. The one say RIC 1EU the other RIC 1ER. The bottom 2 say nothing on the cones (thinking they may have been reconed). Someone let me know what year these are and if they are worth anything. BTW they do sound good.

Re: What year are my Greenbacks?

Couldn't really find anything there. They say the speakers should have 2 numbers and 2 letters, but mine have three numbers. I even called Celestion and I don't think the guy knew what he was talking about. He said that 2 speakers were from 85 from what the cones said. Then he said 89 from the markings on the frame. Then he said one was from 95 and had no idea about the last one. I highly doubt that the guy I bought this from was buying just one speaker every now and then.

Re: What year are my Greenbacks?

Well their not re-issue GB's as the re-issues have the month and year (not in code)stamped on them. The original GB ceased production in 1978 when it was replaced by the G12-65 The G12M25 GB re-issues first reappeared in 1989. They are GBs too as the T1221 means just that. Using Mike Doyle's system, the FG22 is probably a date code (I don't have a clue about BH16X or GH16X, although H would indicate 1975 if it is a date code) FG22 would indicate June 22 1974.

Re: What year are my Greenbacks?

Thanks for the in put. I was also thinkinking they were from the mid 70's, but I wasn't sure because Celestion says all their speakers have 2 numbers and 2 letters but mine have 3 letters? Do you think they are worth anything?

Re: What year are my Greenbacks?

I think the three letter code is something else and FG22 is the probably date code. There are other numbers printed on the frames and cones beside the date code, such as the cone number ..ect..

They may be worth quite a bit for somebody interested in original series GB's if you can prove the dates and their originality.

BTW the re-issues typically have the date code next to the T1221 model number on the frame, but this wasn't typical practice earlier. My GB reissue set have it this way. Also look on the gasket, they sometimes printed the date code there too.
