"What You Want"

My never ending quest to write a good POP/Rock tune continues.
I used, Guitar Rig 3 and 4, Battery by NI for drums, a few soft synths and my usual crappy mic and mic pre. The track was recorded in Logic on a 1 ghz PC with 512 MB rams (killer specs huh). :)

What You Want

Re: "What You Want"

There just isn't enough stuff out there like this these days. You've definitely got that Depeche Mode sound to a T. You know your style and stick to it and that's freakin' awesome :fing2: I don't know what "crappy mic" and "crappy mic pre" you use, but it sounds great - so just keep using it!

"You've Got to Change" is still my favorite song of yours though. Sickeningly cool! :)

Thanks so much for the support man, I appreciate it. It's hard to not follow trends, I just try and make music I like.

The vocals get a lot of processing if your interested here is the chain:

Stageworks DM 270 ($30.00 SM58 clone) into a Mindprint Trio mic pre. Then comp'd together usually from two good takes and tuned in Melodyne. From there I run a C4 multi band compressor on them with the POP vocal preset, they get sent to an SSL channel strip with another vocal setup which has eq and more compression. I usually copy the lead track and add a pitch shifter with an octave above and below and one in unison, I tuck that way back in the mix and use it to just thicken the lead vocal a touch. I use two reverbs, one plate and one large space like a stadium and a couple of different delays. Then there are various backing vocals depending on the song and if my computer can handle them.
