Whatcha doing? Project thread

Thought there was a thread like this going on but couldn't find it. What kind of project you got going on right now?

I'm building a Glam-Bird for a buddy of mine. He built some relic'd tattoo machines for my niece that were incredible so this is the payment. All finishing is purposefully to the thin side so that it'll wear in quickly.

Lil Daddy Roth Jazz Berry Pink over black. It's getting a reverse hockey stick Warmoth neck, zebra 59's, 500k v/t with a 3 way, Tele style bridge, and Gotoh's.

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

I have taken a tobacco-burst 1988 ES-335 down to the wood. The back and maybe the bouts will get a couple of coats of nitro, lots of careful polishing, then it gets built back up, with new tuners (Grover "Kluson" style), pups (Seth Lovers), knobs, pickguard, pots, caps, switch and jack. The bridge and tailpiece will remain stock.

I'm hoping another couple of weeks, assuming the nitro work goes well this weekend.

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

Unfortunately, the rest of my month will be hitting house renovations fast'n'hard, as we need to be able to move in at the end of the month.

And we have a *LOT* to do.

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

I'm hoping to turn this into something. Not sure when it will happen.

Gotta figure out what to do with this Hardtail Seafoam body. Both necks are on other guitars now.

Me too... Going to be fun with paint and tile for the next few weeks on my side.

Hopefully matching those kicks!

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

Moving pickups about between guitars, prior to selling some instruments off.

e.g. Finally found the right host for a pair of Live Wire Classic II active humbuckers. Surprise, surprise. It was a Lester derivative with a two inch thick body and T-o-M/Stopbar hardware.

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

I'm fairly invariable with my love for maple boards on guitars. I'd go with that top pic. I like the tortoise, though.

The predecessor to those kicks. :p
The Black and White stripe?

Here's the Maple/Tortoise version. I don't think I like that combo.

I´ve been noodling around with this for a few months. I just basically draw over of a picture of original Star body and measured the scale. The drawing is about 1 : 5.09 sized, done very precisely.

I have an Ibanez neck lying around (25.1" scale length) which needs a refret. Going to use that for this, but have to wait ´til summer to get things started!

E: Plan is still not perfect but almost there, measurements will be checked until I´m sure it´s okay enough to be build.

Finished this one recently. My first go at assembling and painting guitars. To put it briefly... I learnt a lot of lessons making this one! It is a lot of fun to play though and it sounds great. Will definitely do another project in time. Seeing that Firebird has certainly given me some ideas! Looks like it is going to be awesome.

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

I have an Esquire I am itching to get started on. I'm still waiting on the neck. I found the perfect one on eBay and bought it. Its been a week and the seller is refusing to ship or refund my payment. All i can do now is wait until it was suppose to be delivered and start the claims process.

In the meantime:

Refusing to ship the neck? Why?
