Whatcha doing? Project thread

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

Rosewood would really look great. That guitar would look outstanding with one of the Moses graphite necks but you'd loose that rosewood warmth.

I'm leaning towards rosewood at the moment to go well with the WLH set. I just love the unique tone and feel of wenge a lot too so it's being a difficult decision for me. I'm definitely going to stick with Warmoth for the neck though. I like their work.

I was going to suggest rosewood or wenge.

Lol, redneck. It's cool though, it reminds me of Black Joe Lewis' neck:

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

nothing at the present since i have little money, uncertainty about my job, and i recently had to move temporary.. so not alot of space to work

I have several ideas though..
--when money allows I might order a warmoth soloist body routed for a single humbucker in HOT PINK.. neck will be 24 fret..SS frets..rosewood or other somewhat dark woods.. hardware will be black

--other project is a sanded body I have had for like 25 years and never did any thing with.. its plywood..so im using it as a learning project.. got some interesting ideas Id like to try.. in saying that. My squire has a plywood body and sounds pretty good... I also have a project neck for it.someone botched it up when they tried to dye the rosewood.. plan to redye it and put red fret markers in

three projects I can actually do atm
--Still have a ~1982 or 1983 TS-9 tube screamer I need to troubleshoot and fix..

-- Rewire my DK2.. paint the sc pickup covers.. shield it

-- mod my rat 2

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

I wanted a single neck pickup guitar; and then I saw the perfect Jackson style neck to go with a black Soloist body in the Warmoth Showcase... so the two ideas got squashed together and before I knew it I had a single neck pup guitar that looks like a Shredder otherwise. It's a little too out of the box even for me, so I'm thinking of getting another black Soloist body and using my existing hardware and neck pickup (a Screamin' Demon - which actually does make a really good neck pup) and adding another Demon at the bridge. So I can have my cake and eat it too. Here is the guitar as it is right now:

:dunno:Real question (ie: I'm not being a smart-a$$):

I see single-pickup guitars around, but what's the allure? Is it just that you find you only use (or plan to use) the one pickup, so trying to simplify? Or does it give some other advantage that I'm not picking up on? (pardon the horrible pun!)

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

Practically everything I have is in some kinda in need of something...
:(

thought i was the only one...
other projects i need to do....
still need to replace a speaker jack on the randall and probably replace the sicher-jones footpedal jack as it keeps on shorting out..might be the male plug on the footswitch too but i suspect its the female plug thats causing the problem

now if i get really motivated which means its REALLY far on the list of things to do.. i need to spray contact cleaner on the pots of both of my heads

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

Side dots are red line trimmer and the fingerboard ones are rosewood. They seem to have colour matched themselves

Had a chip out between the bridge and humbucker  i was crazy to even consider a 1.5mm mini wall haha

dude i almost double liked that post^^

Thanks bud. one day i want to do some fancy wood inlays but i dont have the tools or skill yet. I saw this mint wood inlay in wenge by crimson guitars and it blew me away.

And i got the green ones done on my shinobi build. Side dots are green line trimmer and the face dots i punched out from an old green highlighter lid.

Re: Whatcha doing? Project thread

I got into a mood to put this thing together again.. with some differences. I wanted to have a one real beater. I think I succeeded with that.

Neck/middle are some no-name single coils from China. They are ok for me. The bridge hb is an old faithful Ibanez pickup. Other than that it´s just one 500k pot and import 5-way switch.

Ugly as **** but the playability and neck are just awesome. Solid #2 to back up my Jackson.
