whats a baritone guitar?

Re: whats a baritone guitar?

In essence, a guitar with the same scale length as a bass. Think Spaghetti Western soundtrack music.

Re: whats a baritone guitar?

Erm... not quite, Rev ;).

Basically, it's a guitar with a longer scale than the conventional 25.5". Greater scale length = greater string tension and tighter sound at same pitch.

Re: whats a baritone guitar?

Typically tuned BEADF#b Though, there are a few variations. Some people tune em BEADGb, others tune A to a...a true baritone will have a longer scale than what you'll typically find on a guitar. I've seen em between 26.5" and 30". I used to play one, but I eventually switched to a 7 string...was missin that high e a little too much ;).

Re: whats a baritone guitar?

Baritone = Essentially any instrument with a scale between 25.500000000000001" and 29.99999" (30" is short scale bass) that is otherwise identical in construction to a "normal" guitar. Often tuned down a fourth or fifth, b ut can be tuned like a normal guitar (or a bass) as well with the proper string gauges.
