whats a good bloozy pickup for a strat?

drew_half_empty

Looking for Real Life
talking neck position. I'd like it voiced similar to a pearly gate, but single coil, preferably hum cancelling, with some decent output, big fat classic rock/blues sound

and, since you're already here, does anyone know if theres a good mid position on a 59/59 set? this is for another guitar, which is h/h

Re: whats a good bloozy pickup for a strat?

Maybe a Hot Stack? Not sure on which would be closest to a PGn, maybe even a CR or Lil 59. I like the middle position on H/H guitars, especially if you have a way of blending the pickups with each other rather than both full on at the same time.

Sorry I couldn't be of much help.

Re: whats a good bloozy pickup for a strat?

So many to choose from, but the Fender CS Fat 50's have a great blues tone, since they sound fairly vintage but have nice growl with a bit of gain. They sound more SRV than Texas Specials, ironically. My new favorites are the Antiquity Surfers, tho.

Re: whats a good bloozy pickup for a strat?

Keep in mind that you can't mix Duncans with Fenders, since they're wound in reverse of each other. Buy a calibrated set from one company. And, make sure the middle is rw/rp.

I have a set of SD Alnico II Pro staggered in my Strat. All wound for the correct position. Great blues tone, IMHO...

Re: whats a good bloozy pickup for a strat?

well the tone wizard reccomended vintage staggered's

any thoughts on them?

and i don't plan to use mid positions on this guitar, just one pickup for different things
