Hey folks.. I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion on a tube amp from say 30 to 80 watts, but prefer 40 to 50 that I could buy used that would have that hot rodded sound that EVH had on his first couple albums where he had his plexi marshall 100 watt heads modified? I'm curious if anyone has found an amp that has that typical brown sound without any extra mods? I realize that this isn't the only thing in the equation to his sound, but I want that amp sound.. Love it the solo on that first album.. Eruption I think it is? God what tone! Also, I love the tone on the John Skyes CD live with Thin Lizzy in 2000 and at his web site they say he used the same guy that EVH used for mods on his amps, but that dude that did the mods died.. Anyone have any suggestions for a poor mans fix for such a thing? Just curious.
