Apparently you have to pay for db poweramp, and i can't find any others on google.

dBpowerAMP is definitely still free, and a great program. You may be confusing it with the Power Pack, which costs some money and adds lots of options that you really don't need.
AudioGrabber is also great. (My other favorite.)
AudioGrabber, CDex, and EAC are probably the three most popular, and they are all free, but they are intended as CD rippers, that also incorporate mp3 conversion capabilities. But all of the above mentioned programs need an external mp3 encoder to be able to have full mp3 conversion capability.
The best one so far is here. Just click on the link that says Download LAME 3.90.3
Also, click here and just do some reading. Its about the best mp3 resource. btw - unzip that Lame file into whichever folder you install your "other" program into, whichever you choose. If you have any problems or question, just ask. I'll be happy to help you get this all up and running.

??? Artie? Since when is Audiograbber free?? I paid for mine.....
The Trial version is free, though, but also useless if you want to rip whole CDsbecasue it randomly selects half of the tracks that it will allow you to rip.....
BTW, Know when doing this that while AG for example is legal, the LameENC/BladeEnc/RazorENC etc. plugin ISN`T...
Bottom line: You ARE breaking the law if you use a freeware MP3 encoder, because Fraunhofer isn´t getting royalties, but that´s part of the license needed to make a legal MP-3 encoder. Just like copying a strathead, Fender WILL sue the company (not the customer) if they can.. you have been warned
If you want to avoid the Legal Issues completely, then rip to OggVorbis-Format... sound quality is infinitely better, anyway
