Whats a good PRS Substitute

I want a PRS, but I don't want to spend the money. I don't like their SE models. I do like the body style of a Legit PRS. What's some guitars that have a similiar body style?

Re: Whats a good PRS Substitute

what dont you like about the SE models? ... how much do you want to spend? enough for a used prs? ... maybe that will help us aim you at something you will like

i think agile might have some prs copy body styles

Re: Whats a good PRS Substitute

Don't Dean make something fairly similar? Aesthetically, anyway.

Re: Whats a good PRS Substitute

I wanna keep it under a grand, don't wanna spend more than my main axe which is a LP Deluxe.

I look for playability and aesthetics in my guitars

i'd be lookin to score a used PRS from TGP of BaM or CL if that was the criteria
good luck

Well Dillion makes some import copies that aren't bad but if you don't like the SE line you probably won't dig them either.

Used Miras are under a grand so what model is it that you like?

Re: Whats a good PRS Substitute

A Hamer sunburst is a completely different guitar. It is a thick body and strong neck joint at a pretty low fret. The classic PRS scheme guitars are much thinner and expose more of the neck.

Maybe check out a PRS CE. They can be had for not much > $1000 and they are very good guitars. I prefer them over the mahogany set-necks.

Re: Whats a good PRS Substitute

As far as I'm concerned, the only ways to get a cheap PRS are:

1) a steal at a pawn shop
2) a PRS SE

Alternately, get a substitute like the Dillion DR1500 ($800-850), or a compromise like the Agile Hawker ($300)

The other option, if you're willing to do some work is here:

Re: Whats a good PRS Substitute

The whole point of PRS is that they are all super high quality and have that PRS feel.

PRS SE has it - others don't.

A used Carvin is probably a great option bro, I know you said custom options would be the beauty of Carvin for you, but I have had 2 Carvins (still have 1 that is my #1) and I can say, they are as good as any guitar I have played... except maybe Suhr, but that's a given... but still the Carvin's are great guitars and you can probably find one that has all the options you want, used and under 1K...

EXACTLY

You want a cheap PRS? Buy a PRS SE. You want a real deal PRS? Save up for a real deal PRS.

Problem I have with SE'sis that they are not aesthetically pleasing to me minus a select few. I don't want or need another LP style. THe other styles in the SE line im not a fan of.

MOreover, if im paying close to a grand for an import, I would go with an LTD or throw a couple more bucks and get an ESP.

Sounds like Carvin is your jam then. Sorry about the resale
