whats a jaguar?

Re: whats a jaguar?

A Fender Jag-Stang without the "Stang" :D:D:D

J/K, this body style...

Almost identical to a Jazzmaster IIRC, can´t remember what the differences were, though.

Re: whats a jaguar?

*sigh* So little Fender knowledge.... :nono:

Jaguar -

Jazzmaster -

The biggest difference, in my opinion, were the pickups.

Re: whats a jaguar?

Both were used for surf styled music, however the P90s in the Jazzmaster make it more gritty and raw sounding. I think the Jaguar would be the ideal surf guitar. Never understood why both of the models didn't take off near as well as the Stratocaster. I've always liked those two guitars, even though I hate the electronics system on them (I hate all those sliding things....grrrr). The looks on those guitars is killer, but I guess the Strat just had more pros supporting it at the time.

Re: whats a jaguar?

I'll never undestand why people like these failiures of engineering...
Nothing works on them...nothing, the bridge is a joke, the thing goes out of tune just by looking at it, I cannot count how many of these socalled cool guitars I had the displeasure of setting up.....why did they not fix them when reissuing them??
That bridge can tilt both forwards and backwards, the strings can go into endless buzzing because of the ridiculous saddles, there is not enough tension over the bridge either..
Uh man these things are too much :smack: :laugh2: :burnout:

I read some where that CBS was thinking about discontinuing the Stratocastar, In favor pushing the Jaguar? But then some guy named JIMI
walked out on stage at the Montray pop festival with a Strat........ :cool3:
The rest is history.

Re: whats a jaguar?

I hink they are great lookers. True they dont work for crap, but they are the coolest lookin fenders IMO.

Re: whats a jaguar?

personally i also think they are the coolest looking fenders ever, and the necks to me feel awesome compared to the strat.. BUT.. the action does go all whacked out sometimes.. shame

mine is incredibly stable in tuning
and by bridge doesnt go back

with a right set-up you've got a really nice guitar which will set you apart from the endless strats, teles and les pauls.

I lurve my strat though :D

Re: whats a jaguar?

I've got a vintage Mustang, basically a cousin of the Jaguar and Jazzmaster, and it totally sucks. Sounds bad, plays bad, looks bad... I really don't get the fascination with the wierdo Fenders. I've played Jazzmasters & Jags, and from what I've found, they're just as bad. The prices on the things are just outrageous, as well.

Re: whats a jaguar?

I think the weakest link on both the jag and jazz were the bridges. Total crap. :laugh2: Give me a TOM/STP or wraparound bridge on a Jazzmaster, and I'll be happy. :)

exactly! TOM and stop tial with 2 humbuckers and you have the coolest guitar on the planet.

Re: whats a jaguar?

i think that i disagree with most of you guys...i own a jag . . . 7 possible pickup positions (and we're talking about a guitar that only have 2 pickups) thats the coolest body ever...and make a great and unique sound (so that's why i think thats a love it or hate it guitar)

Re: whats a jaguar?

i have a Jazzmaster and it offers some cool sounds, especialy with the duncans... sounds like a gretch/strat hybrid
