imagine if they had taken off then...

franken jags and super jags in the 80s anyone? :22:

that would be b1tchin' :D

C'mon, you have to admit, those body shapes are A LOT sexier than the Strats (my only real gripe about the Strat was it's shape ;) )

Re: whats a jaguar?

Certainly is a lot of disdain for JMs/Jags here. Oh well. They are incredibly hard to deal with at times, more so if you have the Japanese one with the cheap electronics and weak pickups as I do. But it's the only non-P90 singlecoil guitar I care for, and it inspires more than the Telecasters and numerous Strats that have passed through my hands over the years.

The Jaguar is the only Fender I'll ever be seen dead with, at this point in time. :D

Re: whats a jaguar?

basically the jaguar is the sexiest looking guitar ever. not only that but its great to play, and sounds amazing.

Re: whats a jaguar?

Definitely is a hard guitar to work with, they need alot of care, and HAVE to have the right setup. I love them.

I'll never undestand why people like these failiures of engineering...
Nothing works on them...nothing, the bridge is a joke, the thing goes out of tune just by looking at it, I cannot count how many of these socalled cool guitars I had the displeasure of setting up.....why did they not fix them when reissuing them??
That bridge can tilt both forwards and backwards, the strings can go into endless buzzing because of the ridiculous saddles, there is not enough tension over the bridge either..
Uh man these things are too much :smack: :laugh2: :burnout:
First off... no P90s in the Jazzmaster. completely different pickups, actually weaker than Jag pickups. Though Jag pickups are more icepicky.

The engineering failures are what gives them their character. It's not a stereotypical metal/blues sounding guitar. Play clean or lightly distorted lines through them (ala Frusciante) and you're in heaven. Don't treat it like a Superstrat or something. Best clean tone ever IMO

Plus there are cheap solutions to all those problems... Buzzstop to get more tension, taping the bridgeposts... But then you lose the jagness ;)

The electronics are simple. switches activate the pickups. there's another switch for low end cut. There's another switch to get you into a mellower preset rhythm circuit. I've never understood why that's so hard for people to comprehend. I like having options.

How did I not catch this thread months ago ;)

Re: whats a jaguar?

If you get a jaguar you would end up having to replace the bridge. Its usless. I like the sound of the guitar though, great surfy sound.

Those exist. Jackson's Custom Shop made some guitars they called 'Jizzmasters', obviously for trademark violation reasons. Those exist in some pretty extreme forms, including ones with hot humbuckers and Floyds. Only on custom order though, and very few exist. Can't find any pics right now, onfortunately. There used to be some in the Jackson Custom Gallery on their website...

I'm afraid to do a Google image search with "Jizzmaster" in the subject line...

Oh, did I mention they're extremely ugly? :laugh2:
It's shaped something like a Charvel Surfcaster , but off a bit.

That was the sole example I could find with Google, though...
I found some at the Jackson-site: [1] [2] [3] [4] [4]
