What's a "normal" number of guitars to own?

Re: What's a "normal" number of guitars to own?

Seriously dude, does your wife understand the difference between single coils and humbuckers? I think it's important to educate these people, get them on our side :-)

Re: What's a "normal" number of guitars to own?

12 guitars, 4 basses, 5 tube amps, 2 bass amps, and around 2dozen pedals always looking for the next addition

Re: What's a "normal" number of guitars to own?

i think 3 guitars are enough. 1 mahogany, one alder or maple bodied and 1 in between.
1 set neck, one bolt on, one neck thru
one fixed bridge. one vintage tremolo, one floyd rose bridge.
one ebony, one brazilian roseewood, one maple fingerboard.
thats it

I think it's reasonable to have a strat and an LP. Covers a wide variety of songs. And an acoustic is necessary as well.

Just to make sure I've got it covered, I also have a PRS S2 Custom 24 and an SE 245, which I actually like better than the LP (I added a hotrodded humbucker set to the SE 245). I won't even go into the amps.

By the way, that Takamine acoustic is a great guitar for the price...I've got the same model and love it.

Yeah, I love it too. Mine needs some fretwork though... I am a bit too heavy hitting I guess ;).

You're missing the point! It's not a fixed number nor even a sum, it's a power!

1 mahogany, one alder or maple bodied and 1 in between = 3
1 set neck, one bolt on, one neck thru = 3
one fixed bridge. one vintage tremolo, one floyd rose bridge = 3
one ebony, one brazilian roseewood, one maple fingerboard = 3

So, in order to get all possible combinations you'll have 3x3x3x3 (or 3 to the power of 4) = 81 guitars!!! (or 80 plus the "just one more!")

Feeding your family is never sacrifice (with certain caveats), it is integrity. That being said, own as many as you choose to afford.
