What's for you? Vol. Pedal or Pinky?

You know that little volume fade in trick that ppl do to fade licks into their little phrases. I always used the pinky to do it. Now I'm wondering if there is any advantage of just using a volume pedal instead.

LOL! Actually, it's more of a swell than a fade! Isn't it?

Which do you guys prefer? Pinky or pedal?

I'm definately for the Volume pedal...Ever since I bought My first multi-effect digital thingy...they usually have one. But Now I consider it an essential tool for my playing.

I had to play straight to my head a few months ago with no volume, The pinky thing worked but still...I felt naked without my volume pedal...ugh..

I'm a pedal guy, but I have used my pinky out of necessity of not having a volume pedal. Now that I have one though I can do the swells much better. I just never had the finesse and control to make a proper swell using my pinky.

Either way I love using a volume control to fade one's self in and out during a solo.

I'm known for whining everytime a guitar doesn't have the volume pot where it is on a strat... :laugh2:

There are occasions where a volume pedal is a must though... if you're using all your fingers you obviously can't use a pot too. Also, some techniques (e.g. fast picking passages) mean you can't properly control your little finger to get a swell....

Agreed. The vol pot is too far on my Dean. On my RG is was in the perfect spot. Unless I really got to hammering away. Then I would bump the volume down on accident.

So I suppose I like both placements come to think of it.

I can, but don't really like to have to use the pinky thing on my Blueshawk. My SG's is way too far away, and got rid of the pot that was right next to the bridge pickup on my strat. I hit it too much.

Pinky. I have never owned a volume pedal in my entire playing life.
