My fave is the Boss CE2 - but it's not stereo.

I have a stereo Dano Cool Cat that sounds nice but it's noisy and runs on 18 volts.

I also have a stereo Boss CE3 - but I prefer the CE2.

I sold the Fulltone ChoralFlange that I had - liked the warmth and output of my Boss CE2 more.

I'm especially curious about the Voodoo Labs Analog Chorus (supposedly a faithful repro of the Boss CE1) and the Voodoo Labs Micro Vibe (supposedly the tone of a UniVibe like Hendrix used). But neither is stereo and I love the sound I get when I use a stereo chorus to split the signal and run into two amps.

Re: What's the best Chorus Pedal?

I <3 my Boss DC-2.

I love it, and does amazing things to my sound. It's analog and stereo and very, very sweet.

You can't adjust the sound apart from the 4 buttons, and it's expensive, but the sounds themselves don't really NEED much adjusting, they sound great the way they are.

Thanks! The DC2 is discontinued and selling for quite a high price these days. Never tried one. Heard very good things about them though.

Any love for the Analogman stuff? He's now making a stereo chorus.

I know someone is going to mention the TC pedal too! I'm more curious about some of the newer pedal though.

Visual Sound Liquid Chorus. It's stereo, runs on 9 volts and has a small footprint. A killer sounding chorus.

Re: What's the best Chorus Pedal?

the digitech chorus factory is able to clone (I tried, it works) vintage and modern boutique chorus pedals, except it is quieter. and cheaper than most.

Re: What's the best Chorus Pedal?

The TC Electronic chorus is regarded by many to be one of the best.

I just saw Phil Keaggy play last Saturday night. On his pedalboard was a Dimension C pedal. His chorus sound was gorgeous.

A lot of people regard the Rockman stereo chorus to be one of the best. I have one and I like it. It's subtle, which is one thing I like. A little swirling, no obnoxious out of tune warbling. It's very clean sounding.

Re: What's the best Chorus Pedal?

i havent tried the analogman one but i wouldnt be surprised if it rocks, lol. my personal fave that i have tried, and currently own, is the boss ce-5.

All those good things you hear are true, trust me. I have a good MP3 of a demo that krankguitarist made me of his, if you want me to email it to you.

It was expensive, but it did nail that sound I heard in my head.

Lets see... other chorus pedals I've tried and liked.

The Boss CE5 and CH1 are hit and miss with me. They sound good with some setups, kinda bland with others. At best I've been able to get some good lush sounds out of them though.

The CE2 is hard to go wrong with... I had one for a brief period and liked it but I wanted a more expansive sound, and stereo capability.

The CE20 - the big dual pedal - is capable of some fantastic chorus sounds.

The Ibanez chorus reissue (CS9 ?) had a cool sound but it was noisy and killed my high end. Same with the Cool Cat - cool sound, bad side effects.

I've had experience with three or four other models but nothing about them was good enough or distinctive enough to warrant any lasting impressions.

Of those you mentioned, the CE2 is my fave. But like you, I want stereo! My Dano Cool Cat is actually a great stereo pedal but I need a special cord to power it with my Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 and I'll need to order that cord.

I guess it runs two of the eight 9 volt outputs in parallel for the 18 volt requirement of the Cool Cat. The Cool Cat also runs on two 9 volt batteries but burns through the batteries really fast. So if I use it I'll have to give up two of the eight 9 volt outs of the Voodoo Lab power supply.

That one gets great reviews! And it's relatively inexpensive - around $139. If you like it must be good!

How about the H2O? That includes an echo!

My 2 faves are the Boss Ce2,and the TC.
I have a Ce1 but i found it a little too rich,too thick.
The good thing about the TC you can adjust it to be almost
none existant.

Dang! I saw him in Dallas a few years ago. Great player. Best E-Bower I've ever heard!

That Dimension C is a discontinued pedal but it sure gets high reviews - and it sells for well over $200 used! I'd like to find one and check it out.

I wasn't able to try one out before I bought mine, just because they're kind of hard to get... I bought mine off eBay on the faith of good reviews and good sound clips.

It was totally worth it. :D I'm not letting this one go!

So what's the diff in tone between the DC2 and the DC3? Both get really good reviews, both are discontinued and the DC3 is half as much $$$.

The H2O is REALLY cool. I love the echo. That is one pedal I'd love to have myself. The chorus side is the same as the Liquid Chorus pedal, just half the H2O made in to a single pedal and true stereo. Their stuff is super quiet too.

Re: What's the best Chorus Pedal?

I had Voodoo labs and actually liked the sound, but it didn't sound like a straight chorus to me.... it had a sort of phasey sound going on. Also, there was a big boost in volume when you turn it on (though I'm sure I read somewhere that there is a mod for this?). I have since got a Retrosonic chorus which is superb, also has built in vibe and is stereo... not cheap but excellent.

I own an Analog Man Stereo Clone Chorus, and I'm all done shopping for chorus pedals. I've had it for a few years now. Makes a stereo amp setup sound incredibly lush.

That's good to know ....... so do you run through stereo (or separate) delays or do you go directly out from the chorus to the amps?

Depends what I'm in the mood for. Sometimes I'll go right from the chorus to two amps, sometimes into a DL-4 then out to two amps, and sometimes I'll take just one output and delay it.

For a while, I took one output and fed it into a DL-4 then to my Super Reverb, and the other into a Deluxe Memory Man then to my AC-30. Sick.
